Two First Year Seminars visited the Dickinson College Farm today! Prof. Soldin FYS "Storytelling with Food in France" from French and Francophone Studies at Dickinson College and Prof. Trazzi FYS "What is Food?! Proofing Our Understanding and Knowledge of Food" from Italian Studies at Dickinson College. A great way to learn about the Farm initiatives including their organic practices, food production, compost and waste reduction, biogas and more! 🥕🍅🌿

Torino - The Fruit Museum! A leap into the past to think about biodiversity. The heart and centre of the museum is an extraordinary pomological collection by Francesco Garnier Valletti, consisting of thousands of varieties of apples, pears, peaches, apricots, plums, and grapes…
The analysis laboratories, the pomological collection rooms, the library, and the director’s office add value to the precious historic-scientific heritage of the Stazione di Chimica Agraria (Agricultural Chemistry Station) founded in 1871.

Torino - OrtiAlti. An organization of architects, researchers, agronomists and educators that deals with the dissemination of and experimentation with urban horticulture practices and the regeneration of under-used areas of the city, engaging citizens to care for such spaces. We met with one of the founders, Dr. Elena Carmagnani, Project Manager. She showed us the rooftop garden and told us about all of their amazing projects.

Torino - Porta Palazzo. The largest open-air market square in Europe! We learned about the RePoPP project: a system for the recovery and redistribution of organic waste, fruits, and vegetables that can still be used. Great awareness-raising and education activities on food waste!
