We want to share the news that Bernie Shapiro, beloved owner and one of the co-founders of Dharma’s Restaurant, passed away on August 17, 2026 at the age of 77 after complications from bladder cancer.

Bernie opened Dharma’s in 1982 and spent over 40 years building it into a place of community, connection, purpose and healthy delicious food.

A celebration of life will be planned and details will be shared once available. Thank you to everyone who was part of his journey. 💚
