There’s something a little surreal about making it through another summer season. The early mornings, long days, endless coffee, beach crowds, familiar faces and everything that somehow gets packed into a few short months.

Our team absolutely crushed it this summer. Working a summer in a seasonal town is wild, and I’m so grateful for the people who showed up day after day, rolled with the craziness, kept the coffee flowing and made The Buoy such a fun place to be. I genuinely love working alongside this crew.

And a huge thank you to all of the people and small businesses that keep Cape May running all summer. Our customers, neighbors, vendors, delivery drivers, fellow business owners and everyone working long days right alongside us. The glue that holds this town together.

Friendly reminder that we’re heading into our first week without our college baristas!

Please be patient with us and keep an eye on our hours. We’re still open daily, just closing a little earlier than we did during the height of summer!

And don’t forget to wish our crew a great school year as they head back! They worked hard all summer and we are excited for their next chapter!

150 days ago, I ended my winter in Mexico early and bought myself a second coffee shop for my birthday on a whim.

Equal parts determined and delusional, I’ve set my alarm for 4:30am every day since and quietly put in the work.
✨
Somehow, the time has passed in a blur of early mornings, supportive customers, dedicated staff, lots and lots of coffee, and hot summer days.
✨
And the funny thing is, I barely remember a time before The Buoy Downtown existed.

Today, someone who has watched me grow up stood in a line that stretched out the door. When he finally got to the counter, he looked at me and said, “You are your father’s child.”

It was one of the nicest things anyone could have said to me.

Happy Father's Day, Dad. I would have loved to share a coffee with you in my little spot by the sea, in the town where you taught me to love the small business life.
