A little piece of Bender’s history! 📸

A huge thank-you to Rich and Melissa Mareno for sharing this incredible old photo of Bender’s Tavern with us. The photo dates back to 1945 and captures a group of men gathered in the LDR (Ladies Dining Room) —nearly 80 years ago!

We love seeing these glimpses into Bender’s past and imagining all the stories that happened around these tables.

Bender’s Place in Canton’s Football History🏈

Bender’s connection to professional football reaches back to the sport’s earliest days. Around 1920, as the organization that would become the NFL was taking shape in Canton, legendary player Jim Thorpe was known to frequent Bender’s, where football conversations continued over food and drinks. In 1963, Bender’s hosted the first meeting of the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, established with the help of Wilbur Jacob—grandfather of current owner Jon Jacob. From welcoming football legends to serving generations of fans, Bender’s is proud to remain part of Canton’s enduring football tradition.

Please note that some downtown roads are closed this morning and into lunchtime due to the parade, but we're open and our customer parking lot is free on Saturdays. A few extra turns will get you here—we promise it's worth the trip!

Due to the Community Parade on Saturday, August 1, some downtown roads will be closed during the morning and lunchtime hours.

Bender’s Tavern will remain open, and parking is free for our customers on Saturdays in the lot next to the restaurant.
