We will never forget 🇺🇸
This photo was taken during the construction of the World Trade Center in New York City. Geralyn, one of our owners, grew up with a personal connection to these towers, her father and uncle were part of the construction crew that helped build them.
Like so many Americans, September 11, 2001 hit very close to home for our family. We are from New York and were living in New Jersey at the time. We can still remember exactly where we were. Exactly how that day felt. The disbelief. The fear. The heartbreak.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the nearly 2,977 lives that were lost. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed. But we also remember what happened in the days that followed.
People showed up for one another. Strangers became neighbors. Americans put aside their differences to grieve together, serve together, pray together, and love one another. As the years pass and a new generation grows up without memories of that day, it becomes our responsibility to tell them.
Tell them what happened.
Tell them who we lost.
Tell them about the heroes.
And tell them how, in the midst of unimaginable tragedy, people chose to love their neighbor.
May we never forget, and may our children and our children’s children never forget either.
