A glimpse into life along our coast before Highway 101 traced the cliffs. 🌊

Long before the Arch Cape Tunnel opened in 1941, travelers drove on the beach around Hug Point to get from Tolovana to Arch Cape — carefully timing their journey with the tides.

This photo captures the original “road,” carved straight into the rock and only passable at low tide. One mistimed trip, and you were staying a little longer than planned.

There’s something humbling about standing where history once rolled by on four wheels and ocean foam. Some places hold their stories a little deeper — Cannon Beach is one of them.🤍
