🍃 What is your role/What do you want to contribute to Tico?
I am the Assistant Roaster and Beverage Development Associate here at Tico.
🍃 Which one of Tico's values (empower, protect, & nourish) do you connect the most with?
I connect with Tico’s value of protecting life. Being sustainable isn’t simply a label that Tico claims. It’s written into every aspect of the work here. From the direct trade relationships with coffee farmers to the detailed daily waste procedures, lessening our environmental impact and protecting life is at the forefront of everything we do. I find that so cool and motivating!
🍃 What is your signature drink?
I got into pour over coffee recently. I should've tried it so much sooner, because it opened my mind entirely. The flavors just jump out at you. Lately I've been drinking a lot of pour overs with our Lake Toba Samosir Honey beans. I taste the strawberry flavor right away, like I just bit into a perfectly ripe strawberry.
🍃 What has been your favorite part of being a roaster?
I've really enjoyed learning how a roast profile is selected for a new bean. We smell, taste, and observe the bean in many different ways to figure out what makes it unique. Every origin, every harvest has its own personality, and it's been cool learning how to showcase that.
