Fresh Hop Weirdo - 7% ABV | West Coast IPA made with fresh Strata

Hops are harvested once a year in the Pacific Northwest. Before they’re dried and pelletized, some farms reach out to ask if we want them fresh. Sticky, green, not yet dried or smashed, and still wet. We say HELL YES!!

Then we drive or fly north for about 600 miles and bring these little green nuggs home with us. Because they aren’t smashed and condensed into little pellets we have to use a lot of them… and we mean A LOT. Like 1,000 lbs. But you can’t just throw them into the mix like any normal brew day. Instead, we rapid freeze the hops with liquid nitrogen and shatter them open.

The result is something that can only be described as pure vibrance, fresh cut grass, and botanical sap. It’s like biting into a fuzzy sun-ripened peach straight off the branch, just doesn’t get any better than that!
