For the third edition of the Villager Book Club, we’re reading Daniel Mason’s extremely funny new novel Country People. It’s a story of New England culture shock, as an oddball family of academics leaves California for a year in the woods in Vermont. A swift-moving farce that takes aim at Coastal elites and small-town foibles, Mason’s latest should make for a fun book club conversation.

A coffee to share the warmth. ☕️

This fall, the Villager Cafe is raising funds for the Emergency Warming Center. When you purchase a “donation coffee” at the Cafe, your contribution will help provide warm beverages, paper goods and laundry mat gift cards for people using the Warming Center on hard winter nights.

The goal is simple: warmth and dignity when people need it most. Just tell our staff you’d like to purchase a donation coffee when you check out. Every cup helps.

The Emergency Warming Center is powered by volunteers, community partnerships and people who believe everyone deserves a safe place to be when the temperature drops.

We’re excited to have a little cameo in Ian Cheney’s upcoming film, The Work in Progress. Some scenes were filmed right here at the Villager Cafe, as the film brings Americans together for face-to-face conversations about cultural, political, economic and generational divides.
