I don’t know a lot about public notices or zoning. I know very little about easements and property tax distributions, but I do know that turning The Links at Heartland Crossing over to a developer for residential development only benefits the developer!
This rezoning would allow a developer to build apartments, townhomes, duplexes and single family homes. The property is located in Madison Township in Morgan County feeds into Mooresville Schools. As residents of Morgan County, we just can’t take the additional strain on our resources!
What does this mean for you:
- Overcrowded schools
- The destruction of wildlife habitats, including several threatened or endangered species
- An increase in emergency calls
- A potential decrease in emergency response times
- Additional wear on our roads
- Continuous construction
- An increase in noise, air and soil pollution
- A decrease in available resources for medical needs
And so much more!!!!
The sale of the course isn’t the issue, it’s the “assumed” proposed land usage by Gradison Land Development and the ambiguity of disclosure.

7/1
Word starts to spread that there will be a proposed rezoning of the land at the 7/18 Zoning Meeting
7/2
Several residents receive personal messages saying that the developer will hold a meeting to discuss the proposal from 6-8pm on 7/11 at Jones Crossing.
7/3
Tried to find out additional information, but many office directors were out for the holiday. One individual reports that letters to those impacted must be postmarked by 7/6. Since that is a Saturday, most home owners will not receive their letters until 7/9. According to that same individual, anyone not able to attend the meeting, but wanting to fight the rezone, must have letters in the Zoning Directors hand by 7/11. This means responses must be sent overnight or driven down to Martinsville.
The timing of this may be coincidental, but unfortunately it appears deceptive to many homeowners. As a result, we need to join forces and show up prepared to fight for our green space! The Legacy of the Links depends on all of us!
