Joe recalls the day it all began. "It was a Friday. We were making dough and sauce, preparing for a busy night. As we sat down for lunch like a family, a customer walked in to pick up his pizza. He saw us eating and asked about the pizza we were having. I told him it was something special we made for ourselves, experimenting with new ideas. We offered him a slice, and he loved it."
That customer left with both his original order and a freshly prepared "Joe's Special." That evening, the new pizza sensation began to spread. "The same night, we sold four 'Joe's Special' pizzas, and it wasn't even on the menu yet," Joe shared.
The story continued to unfold as the customer, also named Joe, took the pizza to a pool party. His neighbors, intrigued by the unique pizza, called Mona Lisa Pizza, asking for the same order. This led to a bit of confusion. When Joe's workers received calls from neighbors wanting the same pizza that "Joe" had, they initially thought the calls were referring to the owner.
Joe explains, "My workers told me that our neighbors wanted to order the pizza that 'Joe' gave them. I had to clarify that it wasn't me, Joe, the owner, but rather the customer named Joe who had brought the pizza to the pool party. After explaining this a few times, we simply started telling customers to ask for 'Joe's Special' when they called to make it easier."
Joe proudly describes the ingredients: "Joe's Special includes chicken, ham, chopped jalapeños, shreds of pepperoni, chopped fresh tomato, and mozzarella cheese. It's been a hit ever since we added it to the menu."
