🧧🧧🧧新年快乐 🧧🧧🧧
Here’s my yearly PSA to spread a little Chinese culture around.
Got the Hongbao ready (lucky money). A few Chinese superstitions that I would like to share.
1. You are supposed to clean your whole house before New Year's Eve. A clean house to start the new year.
Do NOT clean on New Year’s Day.
2. You are to wear new clothes on New Year's Day. And you’re supposed to wear RED. Not black or white.
3. The number 4 is very unlucky. Google it. It's the number of death.
4. The number 8 is very lucky. Ask the DMV ladies who know my mom and check out her license plate.
5. Clipping your fingernails and toe nails at night brings death. So far so good.
6. If you point to the moon, your ears will fall off. Hmm. Idk about that one.
7. If a baby cries for no reason, it's because he/she see a ghost.
8. Lucky foods to eat include: dumplings, noodles, oranges, fish, chicken or duck, sticky rice and spring rolls.
9. Hongbao "lucky Money" is given to your elders and children who aren’t married. The adult children give money to your parents.
I asked my mom if she made that up….No answer. She must have pointed to the moon. 🌙
And yes we are all in black here from the wedding, not today, don’t fret!
Come and get your noodles and dumplings! You can’t afford not to! 🧧🍜🥡🥢
