Chef Brian is volunteering his time to prepare the dinner for the walkers that are honoring their ancestors. There is so much history NOT told! If you’ve never heard of the Nome Cult Walk, we hope you take the time to learn about it - they were pushed by the army. There is a place along the route where many that didn’t survive were laid to rest. We are humbled and honored to participate in such an important observance.

In Fall of 1863, 461 Native Americans from the Yuki, Wailacki, Concow, Little Lake Pomo, Nomlacki, Pit River, Maidu and Nissinan tribes were forcibly marched from their homelands. The march was part of the nationwide, systematic, removal of native people to make way for non-native settlers. Th...

We appreciate all the views!

We will be pausing this page temporarily while we work on new opportunities -

Please read your food labels! If you can eat from raw foods that you prepare yourselves, you’ll know what you put into it. Processed foods make so much disruption to your body’s natural function. We had specific foods available at certain times because our Mother fed us in cycles to put us in rhythm with the universe.

Wishing you all Mno Meejim - eat good food ❤️

Zkede is going on a sabbatical!

We love 🥰 all of our customers and have treasured each word of encouragement and support on this journey. We have withdrawn from the Sag Chip pow wow and Potawatomi Gathering for 2024; we are very sorry to disappoint any of our loyal customers.

We are grateful for our family, our kids and siblings, that have helped us grow into the Indigenous BBQ Fusion front runner in Michigan. We couldn’t have done anything without you working side by side with us. Zkede was nominated 2 years in a row for the ACF Innovative Business of the year, with Chef Brian also being nominated 2 years in a row for Professional Chef of the Year and Chef of the Year. We were able to bring Native Cuisine to many that have never seen Mnomen. We know those nominations wouldn’t be possible without your efforts - Miigwech! The recognition belongs to you all as much as us.

We have sold the trailer and have some other plans moving forward! The business is not closing, but we are evolving and have other opportunities that we are moving forward with at this time. We aren’t quite ready to announce what those changes are, but we are excited for the future!

We say Kchi Miigwech to all of our loyal customers - we kept the smoker, Chef Brian is working up some new concepts for our next phase. Even though we will be out of the line up for a while, we look forward to seeing you all again - as we say-

Baamaa Pii! (We will see you again!)

🧵❤🎨 Come spend your afternoons with us at the weekly sewing sessions organized by the NHBP Culture Department. Open to both experienced sewers and beginners keen on learning, this event offers a unique opportunity to delve into the deep-rooted traditions of the Bodéwadmi {Potawatomi}, explore specific regalia designs, and engage in various culturally significant crafts all year round. Lunch will be provided!

Eligibility: Tribal Members, Direct Descendants, and Pine Creek Indian Reservation Community Members are also welcome. While we welcome our fellow community members and value their eagerness to join us in crafting, we trust that non-Tribal Members will honor and acknowledge the significance and sensitivity of certain sacred items within our culture. As stewards of our culture, the Culture Department is committed to preserving and protecting its integrity and authenticity. Therefore, we kindly request that the crafting of regalia and other culturally sacred items be undertaken solely by Neshnabek.
