Lots happening at the shop today!!

1. The sign is very sad lol. I'm gonna pimp out the "Coming Soon" sign at some point but not today lol
2. The annual backflow test is gonna get done today! Missed it last year, oops but we're on the schedule today 💪
3. Cleaning out the shop and getting new floors!! This was a last minute decision cuz the floors now are not water proof and it would suck to do later on. I was on lowes.com last night at midnight and found a steal on some waterproof floors and they had just the right amount in stock for us 💯 meant to be.
4. Gonna put up a half wall around the perimeter of the back area to house plumbing and electrical lines.
5. When we're all done, Chris Taylor from Taylored plumbing is gonna come back and do his thing!!

This is from 2012. Wow! Journaling is so important, I need to get back into that habit. Anyway, I had some ideas back when I was in college for when I grow up. And it's crazy that its actually all coming true! Also a starving artist contest would be so fun lol. I had the brilliant idea of the perfect ratio of dessert (desert?? Im more of a math girly, not english/history) and ice cream back then?? Like imagine a brownie sundae with the perfect ratio of brownie, toppings and ice cream. Yasss. I also love my idea of a community bulletin board. I also still love Coldplay and Avril Lavigne haha. I will have tea too! Still love tea. Wow, it's so fun seeing my brain then and now. Still the same in ways lol its just more developed now 🥰❤️ My brain has always been one of my favorite parts of me. Its fun up there.

Here's a fun/silly one: I looked up biggest ice cream cone in America. Originally I wanted to get local artists here involved and make an America's biggest ice cream cone road side attraction (which I still wanna do with YOUR help!!) Instead I found America's biggest real ice cream cone and our neighbors in Englewood hold the record right now!! How fun would it be to have some friendly local competition and take that title from them? This isn't a priority, but just something to think about once we get into a groove :) I'd like to eventually do both; record real ice cream and record ice cream statue. Either way, I need your help with both!!

Another idea 💡: I would like to accommodate all the people out here with extreme allergies but it would be hard to avoid cross contamination for those of you that are highly allergic to nuts or gluten.

My solution: "NO November". Whenever we open, im thinking about a menu with with NO nuts, NO gluten, have dairy free and egg free options and be free of the most common allergens during Novembers. For all you normies like me.. ice cream is naturally gluten and nut free! Lots of soups and foods have NO gluten, NO nuts, and NO dairy so I just have to be mindful to make recipes that are allergen free. We'll still have a very regular menu and you probably won't even notice it's allergen free :)

Another favorite idea that I wanna make happen: "Bands in the Backyard".

The back has a deck we can use for the "stage" and a nice strip of grass where I want to add gardens and benches and string lights for a nice soft glowy vibe ✨️

I KNOW there are many people out here that jam out for fun and have beautiful voices. I am not one of them. Any closet ragaes or rappers?? 1 man bands? Enjoy singing? Play a didgeridoo? I wanna get local talent back there. If you've ever thought man, I wanna share my music but idk how. I'm looking for you! Whether it's your first live show or you already have a band, I want you!

I'm thinking every Saturday evening from Memorial Day to Labor Day starting next year if everything goes according to plan. Is $100 plus tips for the band fair and free admission? Would you come as a band or audience member? Again, just soft launching some fun ideas 🥰

Hey everyone 😊 We won't be open for a few months but I'm gonna start soft launching some ideas and getting some inspiration from you guys and gals!

My favorite idea is hobby hour: I plan on having "hobby hour" at the shop once a week on like Wednesdays from 5-7 maybe. It's where we will have planned hobbies for adults for free or cheap, sometimes it'll be a bring your own project and then a show and tell at the end 🥰 I plan on making a calendar and posting weekly once we open. It'll be a great way to meet each other and make friends as adults on the corridor! I am thinking about kid hobby hour maybe on Saturdays but I wanna get into a groove first.

Who would come? What are some of your hobbies?

Woo! We finally got the permit approved! We can finally start working on the building and getting plumbing and electrical installed!! We are on track to open the ice cream shop just in time for winter 😅

3/24/26: THE BUILDING PERMIT GOT APPROVED!!! 😍🥳 Wooooo!!!! We're finally one step closer to opening!! Now we gotta upgrade the electric and install the plumbing 💪 Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!! 🙏

7/22/26 update: the building permit actually didn't get approved, oops. The plans did! But I needed to find contractors and get them approved first and then the permit would be issued. My contractors got approved but now the county is saying I need a GC??? Cuz my plans involve counters and shelves and they need to be ada compliant? I'm not even getting real counters, just the stainless steel worktables and ss wire shelves. And if they need to be ada compliant ill buy some ada compliant ones, i feel like that's not gc worthy. The building inspector can tell me if my counters and shelves are the right size, right?
