Firehouse Bakery and Cafe

Firehouse Bakery and Cafe is a local business owned and operated by the Nicolaus family: Loren, Barb, Shane, and Scott. He attended the Culinary Arts program at the Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell South Dakota. After graduating he interned at the Historic State Game Lodge in Custer State Park, Custer South Dakota. Here he trained under many chefs from across the United States and personal

ly prepared meals for the grandson of Mount Rushmore carver Gutzon Borglum. Along Chef Shane's journeys he has cooked for many famous people including Toby Keith, Cher, and for governor Bill Janklow and his entourage, just to name a few. He has also cooked beside and learned many techniques from different nationalities of chefs from American, French, Austrian, and Moroccan. The Firehouse Bakery & Café offers breakfast served all day, a lunch buffet, soft-serve ice cream, and dinner menu items. They also cater and do a Chinese buffet night. One of their specialties is their famous seven course Valentine's dinner for two. On the bakery side of things they bake and sell homemade bakery items that include bread, buns, their sinfully delicious caramel cinnamon rolls, and much much more. And just like the local Fire station in town everyone is welcomed and treated like family.
