🎉 Happy Birthday, Marianne! 🎂❤️

If you’ve been coming to this location for any length of time, chances are you already know Marianne. And if you know Marianne, chances are you love her!

Marianne has been serving guests here long before Bennie’s 9 was even a thought. She’s been taking care of people at this location for years—and some of you may even remember her from her Kings days!

She is one of our most senior servers, one of our most requested servers, and someone our customers genuinely look forward to seeing when they walk through the door.

When we took over the diner, we inherited a lot of things—but one of the best was Marianne. ❤️ Over the past year, she has become so much more than an employee. She is truly part of our Bennie’s 9 family, and we’re incredibly grateful to have her.

🎉 ONE YEAR OF BENNIE’S 9! 🎉

Tomorrow (Thursday) officially marks ONE YEAR since we opened the doors as Bennie’s 9 Diner. It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year.

When Helene and I started this adventure, we really didn’t know exactly what to expect. We knew we wanted to create more than just a place to eat. We wanted Bennie’s to be a place where people felt welcome, where our employees felt like family, and where we could be part of this community in a meaningful way.

One year later, we’re incredibly grateful.

To our regulars who come through the doors week after week — thank you. You’ve become part of the Bennie’s family, and getting to know you has been one of the best parts of this journey.

To our friends and family who supported us, encouraged us, helped us, shared our posts, told people about us, and showed up when we needed you — thank you. We couldn’t have done this without you.

To our employees — THANK YOU. You’re the ones who make Bennie’s what it is every day. You’ve worked through busy weekends, long waits, crazy mornings and everything else this first year has thrown at us. Helene and I appreciate you more than you know.

And to everyone who has walked through our doors over the past year — whether you’ve been here once or 100 times — thank you for giving our little family-owned diner a chance.

We’ve learned a lot this first year. We’ve made some mistakes, had plenty of laughs, served a whole lot of breakfasts, and met some pretty amazing people along the way. And we’re just getting started.

So come out and celebrate ONE YEAR OF BENNIE’S 9 with us this weekend! Bring the family, grab some breakfast or lunch, say hello, and help us kick off Year 2 the right way.

🎨 Introducing the Bennie’s 9 Local Art Wall! 🎨

Helene and I have always had a love for art, and from the very beginning, we wanted Bennie’s to be more than just a place to enjoy a great meal. We wanted it to be a place that celebrates community, creativity, and the talented people who live right here in our area.

The murals throughout our diner were part of that original vision, and now we’re excited to take it one step further with our Local Art Wall!

Throughout the year, we’ll be rotating artwork and featuring different local artists—giving them a place to share their talent with the Bennie’s family.

We couldn’t think of a better person to kick it off than local photographer, artist, and Bennie’s regular Jim Gregio! 📸 Jim’s work includes some incredible landscape, wildlife, transportation, sports, and portrait photography. Happy 15th Birthday to Shyler! 🎉

If you've ever wondered where the "9" in Bennie's 9 Diner comes from... today is a perfect day to tell the story.

The "9" represents our family—Ben, Helene, and our seven amazing children. Shyler is one of those seven, and today we're celebrating his 15th birthday!

Owning a family business isn't always easy. There are early mornings, long days, and plenty of sacrifices. But it's all worth it because our family has always believed that sharing a meal brings people together. That's the heart behind Bennie's 9. We didn't just want to build a restaurant—we wanted to build a place where everyone feels like family.

Many of you have watched our kids grow up, and some of you have even seen them helping around the diner from time to time. Thank you for loving and supporting not just our business, but our family as well.

Please join us in wishing Shyler a very happy 15th birthday! We hope this year is filled with adventure, laughter, and God's blessings.

Bennie's Signature Dish: Shrimp & Grits

Let's be honest... when most people think of a diner in Western Pennsylvania, shrimp & grits probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind.

In fact, I don't even like grits.

But I absolutely love shrimp & grits.

The first time I ever had them was in Florida. Our family spends time fishing in a small Gulf Coast fishing village called Matlacha (pronounced Matt-La-Shay). Tucked away there is a little diner called The Perfect Cup that serves incredible breakfasts, including some of the best shrimp & grits I've ever had.

Whenever we flew into Florida, the first stop after getting off the plane was The Perfect Cup to get our shrimp & grits fix.

Before that, I had never even tried shrimp & grits. After that, it became one of my favorite meals.

When we opened Bennie's 9, I had one goal: create a shrimp & grits dish that captured what I loved so much about the one that inspired it. I'm happy to say that inspiration became a reality.

Our Shrimp & Grits start with a bed of creamy cheesy grits, topped with shrimp simmered in a flavorful broth reduction, then finished with chunks of bacon, green onion, fresh jalapeño, shredded cheddar and a drizzle of hot honey.

It's not our most ordered dish.

But it might be our most loved.

Honestly, I can't remember a single guest who has tried it and not raved about it afterward.

If you've never had shrimp & grits before—or if you think a diner in Western PA shouldn't be serving them—we invite you to give ours a shot.

You just might discover your new favorite meal.

Thank you to the wonderful students and staff from Freedom Area School District for joining us for breakfast today! Shyler (one of the 9 in Bennie's 9) was so excited to share the diner with his classmates. We love these kids and have the pleasure to cheer them on in bocce and all their accomplishments. Can't wait to see you again!

A huge thank you to Bennie’s 9 for welcoming our Life Skills class today! One of our students proudly shared his family diner with us, and we had such a great time enjoying breakfast together. Opportunities like these help build community, confidence, and real-world experiences for our students. We are so grateful for the kindness and hospitality!

🇺🇸 We’re OPEN Monday, Memorial Day and honored to serve our community this holiday weekend.

We pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it’s a time to reflect with gratitude on those who gave everything for the lives we get to live today.
