Nothing brings people together like good food….

Blue Willow is a china pattern that runs deep with symbolism and history. I don’t think I was aware of that as a young teenager buying four semi worn plates at the local thrift shop, for my first apartment. The pretty blue pattern caught my eye, but also a familiarity and comfort. The pattern has been around since 1780 and seems to be woven into the lives of us all. Every John Wayne western movie has Blue Willow china at the table, my grandmother had Blue Willow and in talking to many of you in town and the surrounding areas, you all have a connection to it too. Your mothers, great Aunts, and Grandmothers, everyone I have talked to speaks fondly of those Sunday dinners and family meals shared on plates that seemingly hid in the background but carry with them all the sweetness of those times.

When Damon and I decided that buying the café was the right next step for our family, we wanted it to be an inviting space, reminiscent of those old family gatherings; where fellowship was as warm and comforting as the food and the people surrounding us. We wanted a place where the local Burton and Washington County families could come and fill their bellies, see familiar faces and share a meal over the simple plates that carry with them a message of community and family.
