A portion of coffee proceeds are donated to help give dogs a second chance in life. Established in 2015, The Beancounter Coffeehouse & Drinkery is a family-owned and operated coffeehouse featuring creative seasonal menus full of handcrafted drinks, breakfast, brunch, & lunch selections. Our food is made with fresh ingredients and we have an in-house baker who creates scratch made masterpieces. Our

fair trade, organic coffee is sourced from Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. which donates 20% of all coffee proceeds to local organizations who help give pups a second chance. In addition to our espresso and coffee drinks, we offer organic teas, smoothies, milkshakes, beer, wine, and handcrafted cocktails (alcohol is only available at our Jefferson Street coffeehouse location.) As of March 2023, we are now serving Boba Tea!! The Beancounter is a comfortable, welcoming, inclusive space where friends can gather to relax, sip on a drink, eat and visit, or take advantage of our curbside pickup, take out, and business delivery as well. We enjoy hosting parties, showers and gatherings, and we offer catering for meetings and events. Our friendly staff looks forward to seeing familiar faces – and new ones – at the counter. A little reminder for all our pickle people… this one is ALWAYS on the menu!

You’ve Got Me in a Pickle Flatbread Pizza has become a Bean favorite for a reason!

We start with our flatbread crust, cover it in ranch, sprinkle on fresh dill, pile on the dill pickle slices, add crispy bacon, and finish it with plenty of melty mozzarella cheese. It’s creamy, salty, cheesy, dilly and just downright delicious.

Maybe you’ve had it a dozen times… or maybe you keep meaning to try it. Either way, consider this your reminder that pickle pizza is always a good idea.

Some celebrations deserve a table that feels just as special as the person being celebrated.

We had so much fun creating this abundant grazing table for a very special lady’s birthday celebration — and we definitely didn’t hold back! A feast fit for a queen (according to a little who witnessed the table!)!

From beautiful cheeses, meats, fresh fruits and veggies to sliders, salads, dips, spreads, sweet treats and all those little details tucked in between, this table was designed for guests to graze, mingle and enjoy throughout the celebration.

One of our favorite things about grazing tables is that no two are ever exactly alike. We build each one around the occasion, the guests and the feeling our customer wants to create — then add a little Beancounter magic.

Sometimes you just have to look up.

We’ve been up early and moving fast around here lately.

Between getting our new bakery kitchen set up, a wonderfully busy catering schedule, lots of traffic through the store (thank you, everyone!), and just… life, the days have been FULL.

This morning was no different. I was up early, my mind already running through the list of everything that needed to be done.

And then I looked up.

Our beautiful downtown was quiet. The river was still. And the sky just kept getting more magnificent by the minute.

For a few moments, the to-do list didn’t matter quite so much.

What a beautiful reminder that even in the busiest seasons—the ones filled with change, growth, long days and early mornings—there is so much beauty surrounding us if we remember to notice it.

We are busy. We are growing. We are grateful. And we are so very blessed. ❤️

IT’S HAPPENING!

We’re so excited to share the next chapter for The Beancounter!

As we continue to grow and expand our offerings, we’re making an exciting transition and consolidating our operations so we can exclusively serve our customers from our flagship home at:

And there is SO much to look forward to!
We will soon be elevating our baking offerings with a BRAND NEW BAKING KITCHEN, giving us more space to create, bake and bring you even more of the scratch-made goodness you love.

And we love the story behind where it’s happening…

Our new baking kitchen will be located in the former home of Thyme & Spice Company, another Downtown Burlington business that has grown into its next chapter! You’ll find our new kitchen in the same building as Taste & Seek, keeping even more small-business energy right here in the heart of downtown.

But baking is just the beginning! So many other exciting things are in store, and we can’t wait to share them with you as this next chapter unfolds.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported our City of West Burlington café and helped make it part of The Beancounter Coffeehouse & Drinkery story. Now, we’re bringing our energy, creativity and focus together in one place as we continue to grow.
