Dear Customers & Community members,
Thank you so much for your continuous support in helping us survive these slow summer months! Your answer to our call for help this past June has just been tremendous!
Please know that our landlord SAGA continues! We were recently summoned on August 3rd to incur the expensive price tag to fix the wooden ramp structure even though many of you have confirmed to us that under ADA Law, the existing structure is entirely the landlordâs responsibility and he must maintain it or be out of ADA compliance!? Talk about Micro- Aggressions that most of us BIPOC minorities have to constantly deal with!?
But, thatâs not the least of our problem with this landlord!? So, on August 4th, we were again notified by our landlord of a confirmed pest presence in another unit in the building and that he has scheduled a pest control inspection in our unit on August 8th which we have very much welcomed because we take our kitchen food safety very seriously! In fact and in an effort to be very proactive, we were successful in completing on Monday, August 7th a full kitchen inspection by ORKIN, a well established pest control company!
The ORKIN inspection report and email communication which we have a copy included the following:
âGerman cockroach infestation confirmed in the kitchen. Infestation appears to be coming from other portions of the building,
as roaches to go from the ground up, not the top down. Multiple egg casings were found, as well as live roaches in the lighting fixturesâ
âPlease find the inspection, agreement, and payment form for Little Morocco Cafe attached. I notated in the agreement itself that the infestation does not appear to have originated from the restaurant. I would love to speak with your landlord, if possible, so we can figure out where they are coming from. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee that we'll be rid of them for good unless we can target the whole building.
If everything looks good on your end for the pest control, please sign and return at your earliest convenience.
Please Note that we have informed our landlord of ORKIN findings the same day and as well as our intention to hire ORKIN to cure the problem, but instead of giving us the right to choose our own pest control contractor to mitigate the problem, our landlord unilaterally concluded with his pest control contractor that we were at fault and proceeded with the treatment order for all infected units with us solely bearing the expensive treatment price tag of $225/m instead of $110/m quoted by ORKIN!!!!!????
And thatâs not all!!?? Today, our landlord proceeded to inform us minutes before his 11:30 am scheduled meeting with Vermont Health Department to inspect our kitchen without anyone of us present!? which as all of you know has resulted of being required to be temporarily closed until the pest control treatment in our kitchen is complete!?
Dear customers and community members, our goal here is always to be transparent with you guys because during the past 5 years we have never encountered this kind of problem!? Please know that we are committed to keep our food clean and safe for everyone.
We are counting on your continuous support and help in these upcoming challenging days!
Please help!
Thank you and God Bless
