I’ve been getting messages almost daily asking when Hungry Burd is opening, and I apologize for not being more upfront with updates.

As most of you know, I also own Breezy Clean, where I work full-time. That’s my “real job”—the business that pays the bills. Hungry Burd is my fun job. It’s the job I LOVE!

Over the last few months, Breezy Clean has needed a lot more of my time and attention during busy season. While I’m focusing on one business, unfortunately the other has to take a back burner.

There are still a lot of things up in the air with Hungry Burd. Life has a funny way of throwing things at you, and sometimes you just have to bob and weave.

Our plan at this time is still to open Hungry Burd. We just have to figure out what that looks like, at what capacity, how often, and most importantly, what makes sense for our family, our finances, and our future. As much as I love cooking and seeing all of you, I also have to be realistic about where my time is best spent.

I miss Hungry Burd. I miss cooking, I miss the craziness, and most of all, I miss each and every one of our customers.

Thank you for continuing to check in, ask about us, and want us back. We’re just taking things one day at a time and figuring out what the next chapter of Hungry Burd looks like. ❤️

So that leaves me with some questions for all of you… What if Hungry Burd looked a little different for a while? Would you support pop-up events? Would you be on board with takeout only? Maybe some tables outside?
Because I KNOW you guys miss my sausage gravy and breakfast burritos. 😉

We’d love to hear what you would actually show up for! What Hungry Burd favorites would get you through the door—or should I say, to the takeout window?

While we aren’t open just yet, you can still enjoy a great pancake breakfast this morning! Stop by the Watkins Glen Presbyterian Church today and support our son and the rest of Pack 65 Cub Scouts from 8-10:30! 🐻

Tonight, while driving by Hungry Burd we noticed two men going through our dumpster. We continued up the road, turned around, and came back. When we returned, they were attempting to take the tent we have set up for our son’s graduation party.

The men showed us text messages that were from Taelor Nilson-Blaha instructing them to come take the tent where it was set up because it was “free.” She told them it was a “private” market place listing so she couldn’t share it. We have never listed our tent for sale or for free and did not give anyone permission to remove it.

If anyone has actually seen a Marketplace listing for our tent, please let us know who posted it so we can get to the bottom of this situation.

To our Burdett neighbors: please make sure your property is secured.

The police responded to the incident, and both men were arrested.

We wanted to give everyone a little Hungry Burd update. 📢

First, thank you for all of the messages asking when we’ll be reopening. We are trying SO hard to get there. We miss our customers, our regulars, and seeing all of your faces!

Behind the scenes, we’ve hit a few roadblocks. One of our biggest challenges right now has been finding someone with the availability to help us complete some plumbing work that needs to be finished before we can move forward. It’s busy season for contractors so we totally understand.

With Hungry Burd not currently open, I’ve had to shift back into Breezy Clean full-time. Between that, Joe’s full-time job, and all of our family responsibilities, we’ve been putting in long nights and early mornings at the new location whenever we can. Progress may not be as fast as we’d like, but it’s happening.

For those wondering about the tent at the new location, there’s another big milestone happening in our lives. Our oldest son is graduating and will soon be leaving for the United States Air Force. 🇺🇸 We’re planning something special to celebrate him and soaking up every moment we have left before he leaves for Basic Training. As proud as we are, it’s definitely bittersweet.

Please know that even if progress seems slow from the outside, we’re working hard every day to bring Hungry Burd back to Burdett.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and for continuing to check in on us. We can’t wait for the day we can finally unlock those doors and welcome you all back.

We really miss serving our community.

We’re working hard every day to get back to doing what we love, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back soon.

That’s a wrap for our current location. ❤️

While we originally planned to stay open through the 26th, we’ve officially sold down to the point where we just don’t have enough product to continue service.

We wouldn’t be here without our customers and community. So THANK YOU!

We’ll be sharing updates on our new location as things come together, with hopes of being back up and running late May / early June.
