To our dear friends and patrons who have supported us over the many years, WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP to stay open!
After nearly 8 years of leasing this space from John Daly, we have fallen behind on lease payments. We owe $8,000, of which we paid $3,000 on Saturday. Unfortunately John is no longer willing to deal with us. He has actually refused a cash payment of the entire past due balance and sent this text message:
"Please vacate the space immediately. We are filing with the courts on Monday so the police can enforce the eviction of Daily Planet. I will also file personally for any and all damages to the space."

We absolutely LOVE serving the community in so many ways - we've always provided a welcoming meeting space, and have worked to benefit so many nonprofits over the years.
Our passion is in our customers and you all give us life every day. We love interacting with you, hearing your stories, and you really motivate us.
We are deeply grateful for John. He has helped us survive these past 8 years. We are grateful for his commitment to North Buffalo and to Daily Planet. We are grateful for him and his family for investing millions for the building on Hertel and Parkside, for buying, restoring, and running Del Denby's, for resurrecting Checker's, and for buying and resurrecting Washington Square.
We would love to continue doing business, helping nonprofits, and providing a gathering place at our beautiful cafe.
We are sorry that we've fallen behind and are asking John to allow us to continue, and to delay eviction.
