It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of the retail location of Three Stories Coffee Co. at 1021 Broadway.
Three Stories Coffee was opened in March of 2022 with plans to become an important part of the revitalization of Broadway Fillmore. A meeting place for community members, a place that created jobs and opportunities, and provided valuable training programs. The financial challenges of operating the coffee shop have proved to be too difficult at this time. Three Stories will continue to roast and sell coffee to wholesale customers and partners, and we’ll use the next few months to reevaluate our business plans for Three Stories as a whole.
I want to thank Herm Cooks, and his whole team at Three Stories. The food and drinks were delicious, the cafe warm and inviting, and the staff were welcoming. We simply did not have the necessary volume of customers to make the shop work.
There are a few things I want to make clear about this decision.
First, our commitment to investing in and serving Broadway Fillmore remains strong. 716 Ministries will continue to provide training programs at this location, and serve residents in a variety of ways.
Second, we will continue to try new initiatives as we strive to create opportunities in Buffalo’s Eastside. This plan, the Three Stories Cafe, didn’t work financially— but we are committed to developing and trying new plans. Even now we are working collaboratively with many other partners to find creative solutions to allow businesses to thrive in this space.
Lastly, our primary business is creating jobs and opportunities for people. Our mission has not changed, and we’ll continue to creatively and purposefully work towards this goal in all that we do.
Thank you to all of the customers of Three Stories Coffee, and supporters of 716 Ministries.
Let’s Get to Work.
