I’ve been reading through all of your comments, and I honestly don’t know what to say other than thank you.

I am incredibly humbled by all the love and congratulations you’ve shown me and Safeside BBQ. I walked into a room filled with some incredibly talented chefs simply hoping to represent Safeside well, put something on the plate I was proud of, and support a great cause. Walking away with this honor was something I truly didn’t expect

While I’m incredibly proud of this accomplishment, I know I didn’t get here alone. Christina and I have poured our hearts into building Safeside together. We’ve stood side by side through long days, late nights, sacrifices, mistakes, lessons, and plenty of smoke. Our boys have made sacrifices right alongside us, our crew works hard to help bring our vision to life, and our customers and community continue to believe in what we’re building. This may be an individual honor, but the journey that brought me here has always been a team effort.

To everyone who commented, called, texted, shared, voted for my dish, or has supported us along the way, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’m proud of this one, but more than anything, I’m grateful.

🏆🔥 WE DID IT! SAFESIDE BBQ IS THE 2026 TOP CHEF OF THE VALLEY! 🔥🏆

We are still taking this all in! ❤️
Tonight, Brad Kurtz representing SafesideBBQ competed alongside some of the Twin Cities’ best chefs at the 18th Annual Valley Vine & Harvest Throwdown benefiting Canvas Health.

Brad served Brisket Esquites, featuring our slow smoked brisket and Mexican street corn, finished with our house lime cilantro sauce and paired with a Texas Tw***ie stuffed with brisket and cream cheese, wrapped in bacon and smoked. 🔥

Six chefs brought six incredible dishes. Guests tasted them all, voted, and Brad and Safeside BBQ took home 2026 Top Chef of the Valley! 🏆

A huge shoutout to Chef Erik Garcia, Chef Matt Running, Chef Addison Avery, Chef Christian Ticarro, and Chef Tony Kzaz. It was an honor to be part of such an incredibly talented group.

Even better, the evening supported Canvas Health and the important work they do in our communities. ❤️

From our little family BBQ business in Buffalo, we couldn't be more grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who continues to support us.
