Then she'll go fix it, and you will be so glad you listened to her. You'll love the house specialty - Navajo fry bread “UNIQUE PLACE WITH GREAT FOOD AND A FUN ATMOSPHERE!!!”
Hands down this has to be some of the best Mexican food in West Texas. This hole-in-the-wall place lives up to what you'd expect in a small town: fantastic food, eclectic atmosphere, and a hands-on owner who wants to do things her way. If you're looking for a place where the staff wait on you hand-and-foot and attend to your every need then you need to go somewhere else. Part of the fun of Lola's is it's unique ambiance. Men are expected to serve the ladies (like a gentleman should) and you're in charge of grabbing your own cups, drinks, and sometimes salsa. It's just like you were invited into Lola's home for dinner. "Every time I come to the Abilene area I make it a point to go to Lola's." (**Rated by Reviewer)
Customers Say:
“NOT YOUR AVERAGE HOLE IN THE WALL!!"
"My wife and I have been to Lola's 4 or 5 times. We live about 3.5 hours away so it's a big trip just to eat Mexican food. We are planning another trip in January. It's not your average place but it's primitiveness is its charm. When we go there, my wife sits down at the table while I go find Lola in the kitchen. I give her our order (always Carnitas!) and get our chips and drinks. When the food is done Lola yells our my name and I go back and get it. It's the craziest place we've ever been and we love it. It's really a dive but its been there for years so that tells you something. Lola, we love you!"

"THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE LOLA'S!!"
"Don't be shy - you just might need to go back in the kitchen and help supply your table, get chips and salsa or whatever else you might need - they're often busy and Lola's cookin' ... so if you're ok with all of this - you realize that you're eating family-style with Lola. She has the best New-Mexico-influenced-Texas-based food in the world. Just don't order it hot - unless you're up for the challenge!"
