WE ARE HIRING!
Baking position: Full or Part-Time
We are really wanting to find a good fit so we will be searching until we find the right person, no real deadline for this application, but early spring/late winter is definitely optimal! If we find one good part- time fit then we will be leaving this up for another part-time applicant.
About the job:
- You will have a mix of alone time/self-management and working with one other person. Great if you like quiet and your own space and pacing, with a little hustle and bustle sprinkled in for good measure!
- Must be okay with early mornings! You get to choose to some degree what time you get here but most of our bakers choose to come in between 4-5 and stay until between 9-12. You get to be fairly flexible in that way. It’s a ‘work until you’re finished’ type of job so your work pace generally dictates your hours. In the training stages and in the summer you will have the option to work as a ‘second baker’ starting at 7am for a slightly easier day.
- You don’t need to have any sort of baking degree. General competency in any sort of kitchen or in food service and a good learning attitude has historically been the perfect combination for us. We will pay to get you a Serv-safe certification if you don’t have one already: it’s usually just a one-day class and test that can be done in Salida at some point.
- Once we train you and set you free on the job you will have a lot of creative freedom within our parameters. Our bakers have fun putting their own stamp on things.
- Pay starts at 16/hour plus hourly tips. Tips usually range about 7-11/hour in the winter and 10-15 in the summer. Drinks for employees are always free as is most of the food and a pound of coffee a week!
- We are a fun group of people. Come hang out with us and you too can smell like bacon, coffee, and butter all the time.
