Fiddles Diner Fiddles Diner in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, is more than just a place to grab a bite—it’s a living piece of local history with roots stretching back to 1910.

Brownsville, we heard you.

Prices everywhere have been climbing, and families are feeling it. We want Fiddle’s to stay a place where you can sit down, eat well, and not worry about the bill — so we revamped our entire menu.

Same high‑quality ingredients. Same generous portions. Lower prices.

We’ve been part of this town for over a century, and supporting our community matters to us. If we can make it a little easier for folks to enjoy a good meal, that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

Come check out the new menu — honest food at honest prices.

No add‑ons. No surprises. Just Fiddle’s.

Fiddles will open again full time starting May 1 st. Not gonna lie, been crazy slow this winter... Was pretty hard on us. We are still here and celebrating I think 114 years, that's crazy to think about really. So I asked AI what does fiddle's predate?.. just keep in mind when you eat at fiddle's. It was around before all this...

What America DID NOT have in 1912

1. No interstate highways, no modern road system
Cars existed, but roads were mostly dirt or gravel.
The Interstate Highway System wouldn’t come until the 1950s.

2. No commercial air travel
Airplanes were brand‑new technology.
The first parachute jump from a plane happened in 1912.
Commercial flights wouldn’t exist for another decade.

3. No antibiotics or modern medicine
Penicillin wasn’t discovered until 1928.
People routinely died from infections that are trivial today.

4. No Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurance
None of the modern safety‑net programs existed.
Social Security arrives in 1935.

5. No federal income tax (until late 1913)
The 16th Amendment was ratified in 1913.
In 1912, most Americans paid zero federal income tax.

6. No household refrigeration
Iceboxes were common; electric refrigerators didn’t hit homes until the 1920s–30s.

7. No radio broadcasting
Radio existed as technology, but broadcast radio for the public didn’t start until 1920.

8. No supermarkets or national retail chains
Chain stores were just emerging.
Most people bought food from butchers, bakers, and local markets.

9. No women’s right to vote
Women wouldn’t gain the right to vote until 1920.

10. No modern consumer products
Even basic items were brand new:
- Oreo cookies were introduced in 1912.
- Crisco launched in 1912, marketed as a scientific breakthrough.

11. No Arizona or New Mexico as long‑standing states
Both were admitted in 1912 — the last of the contiguous 48.

12. No mass advertising or national brands (yet)
1912 was the beginning of big consumer culture, but:
- No TV
- No

Well it's really slow... So until it warms up we're going to only be open on Saturdays and Sundays. No more Fridays. Hopefully business picks up soon. We want to keep fiddles open.

A Note About Our Updated Menu
We’ve made a few updates to our menu and prices. Like every small diner, we’re dealing with rising food costs across the board, and we had to adjust a few items to keep things sustainable. We kept the increases as small as we could, and we’re still committed to serving generous portions at a fair price.

Fiddle’s has been around since 1910 because we’ve always focused on real food, honest value, and treating people right. That hasn’t changed. You’ll still get the same plates you know, the same quality, and the same welcoming place to sit down and eat.

Thank you for supporting a local diner that’s been part of this community for over a century. We appreciate every visit, every regular, and every new face that walks through the door.

WINTER HOURS UPDATE ❄️

Hey everyone — just a quick update from Fiddle’s!

As we head into the slower winter months, we’re adjusting our hours so we can stay focused, keep serving great food, and take care of our team (and ourselves). Starting this week, Fiddle’s will be open:

FRIDAY – SUNDAY
7:30 AM to 2:30 PM

We’ll be closed Monday–Thursday for the winter season.

This change helps us manage the slower months, reduce waste, and make sure we’re here for the long haul. We truly appreciate all the support this community gives us — it means more than you know.

We’ll still be here every weekend with your favorites, hot coffee, and a warm place to sit. Thanks for sticking with us, Brownsville. ❤️
