🔥 **MEET THE PITMASTER BEHIND BIG E’S SMOKEHOUSE** 🔥
My name is **Evan Hernandez**, but most people around Brownsville know me simply as **Big E**.
Big E’s Smokehouse means more to me than I could ever fit into one Facebook post. This isn’t just a business, and BBQ has never been just food to me. **It’s family. It’s memories. It’s tradition. It’s where I come from.**
I grew up around BBQ. My father started **Ernie’s Smokehouse on Boca Chica Blvd**, and those early days helped plant a love for BBQ in me that never went away. Today, when I light that fire and smell that post oak burning, I’m not just cooking—I’m carrying forward a piece of my family’s story.
Every weekend, I’m behind those pits tending the fire, watching the smoke, and giving that brisket the time it deserves. Then I step behind the counter and slice your order myself. I do that because **my name is on this place, my heart is in this place, and I want to be proud of every plate I hand across that counter.**
Being named **4-Time Platinum Award-Winning BBQ** is something I’m incredibly proud of, but that recognition belongs just as much to the people who have supported us.
To every person who has walked through our doors, waited in line, brought their family, told a friend about us, shared one of our posts, or simply came back for another plate—**thank you from the bottom of my heart.**
You’ve allowed me to take something I love and turn it into something I get to share with my hometown.
I don’t know where this journey will eventually take Big E’s, but I do know one thing: **as long as I’m behind that pit, I’ll keep doing it the way I was taught—with patience, pride, respect for the fire, and love for the people we serve.**
