Today is my dads birthday & celebration of life.

My dad lived in Noblesville until he moved to Arizona full time a few years ago. Like many people his age, he didn't have social media.

He knew obviously that Ron & I owned Rockstar Pizza. He & my step mom had been into Rockstar a couple times over the years. And I'd brought it to him several times. But that was the extent of that.

Back in November, in the middle of the oven debacle of '25, I told him about the Go fund me & all the love & support we were receiving.

I remember he got very quiet, and he said 'how long have you guys been open?' I told him it had been almost 20 years. He couldn't believe it had been so long 😅 and honestly, I think he was a bit bemused, trying to process how this community showed up for us.

We are having a celebration of life for my dad tomorrow, so I've been going through 40+ years of photos. I found this which leads me to Story time-

When I met Ron, I worked in the music business. It was around 2003. I had moved back home & was the Epic Records rep for this part of the country. Ron had a pizza shop called Red Barn Pizza on Kentucky Avenue.

After we settled in Brownsburg, Ron decided he wanted to open a shop here & call it Rockstar Pizza as a nod to my career. So in the very early days, those 2 things collided.

Ron is pictured here with the amazing & iconic who spent YEARS on WZPL. You may remember the 'Daily Dilemma'. He's wearing the very first & only one of it's kind, Rockstar Pizza shirt. We hadn't settled on the image that we use to this day.

The reason Ron is pictured with Kelly is because I, as the Epic records rep, had brought Elliot Yamin (a runner up.from American Idol) into WZPL. I also brought my husband & he brought Rockstar Pizza.

You also may recognize Kelly McKay as our on hold voice when you call the shop.

Anywho, I just wanted to share that little bit of nostalgia with you all.

I promise you that the Ron in that photo never envisioned that he'd still be at it today with the best still yet to come.

My sister & I had a slumber party last night. My daughter is still at camp, my boys are off doing Wicked Flavors stuff so I'm unchaperoned.

We had Asia Wok for dinner, got movie theater popcorn & made vanilla extract. A perfect evening if I do say so myself.

I've got vanilla beans soaking in whipped cream vodka, kissed caramel vodka & some rum.

I'll let you know in about a year how all my vanilla bean extracts turn out.

My boys are in Florida for the biggest sports fishing trade show in the world.

They are currently deep sea fishing 🐬🐋🐙🦑🪸🪼

And I'm a little nervous 😅 but this is a bucket list item & I know they are making amazing memories

Congratulations to our BCSC Transportation State Champs! Sean, Erica, and Stephen were the top team in the State Transportation Association of Indiana’s (STAI) annual bus driver safety competition! They were commended by the BCSC School Board for this accomplishment. Stephen (right) was the top driver in the state and will represent Indiana in the national competition for the second year in a row. This year, he placed fifth in the nation!
