You walk into Lorelei.
You look at the menu.
You tell yourself…

“I’m just getting ONE flavor today.”

And then it happens.

One flavor catches your eye.
Then another starts looking pretty good.
Then somebody behind the counter says, “Would you like to sample it?”

Well, there goes that “just one flavor” plan. 🤦‍♀️

So here’s today’s extremely scientific question:

Are you a ONE-FLAVOR loyalist…

OR

“Give me a flight and we’ll sort out the consequences later” person?

There are no wrong answers.

Actually, that’s not true.

We had to laugh when we checked the cameras and saw some of our favorite customers from Rivera's Flooring, Kitchens & More stop by Lorelei… on a Monday! The disappointment was REAL, and they made sure the camera knew exactly how they felt about finding those doors locked! Trust us guys, we were just as disappointed that we missed YOU! We absolutely love seeing familiar faces walk through our doors, especially this crew. Lorelei may be closed to the public on Mondays, but behind those doors there’s a whole lot of SCIENCE, HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY… and ICE CREAM waiting to happen.

Did you know that right here in Brooksville, Florida, you’ll find one of the biggest names in ice cream history?

Emery Thompson invented the world’s first mechanized batch freezer more than 120 years ago changing the way ice cream was made forever.

And here’s where the story gets REALLY interesting…

The grandson of Emery Thompson has a very special connection to Lorelei Infusions.

We’ll save THAT story for the field trip.

Our homeschool field trips turn ice cream into a fun, hands-on and interactive lesson incorporating:

SCIENCE — How does dairy mix turn into creamy ice cream?

GEOGRAPHY — How did an ice cream machine manufacturer that began its story in New York eventually become part of Brooksville, Florida history?

HISTORY — Learn how Emery Thompson’s invention changed ice cream making, and discover some pretty fascinating stories about these machines along the way.

Oh, and you’ll get to see the iconic ice cream machine nicknamed Godzilla and learn its fascinating history.

AND THE BEST SUBJECT OF ALL… ICE CREAM!

Kids get a chance to learn, ask questions, see behind the scenes and experience a real working old-fashioned creamery.

Because reading about science and history is great…

but eating the lesson afterward is WAY more fun.
