Jayden’s reflection on this opportunity, “South Africa calls to me as an opportunity to immerse myself in its rich past and present. From the legacy of apartheid to the struggle for freedom and reconciliation, South Africa's history is a testament to resilience and transformation. I've always dreamed of going on an amazing adventure to South Africa, where I can experience its vibrant culture, learn about its fascinating history, encounter incredible wildlife, and soak in the stunning landscapes. April 2024 15 students from East Side will be traveling to South Africa. While there we will be visiting Johannesburg and Cape Town. We will be able to see many different historical sites, go on a safari, immerse ourselves in the South African culture and learn about its history.

Ingredients
• 6 large eggs (at room temperature)
•1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
• 1 cup olive oil
• Zest and juice of 1 orange
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 4 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 anise seed chop Mix eggs with sugar until incorporated add olive oil and juice, separate bowl mix dry ingredients, then add slowly 3x to wet. Preheat oven 350 well greased pan cook for 30-45 min. Let cool for 10 min

Peach blackberry marmalade
• 1/4 maple syrup
• 1 lemon juiced
• 1 peach
• 1 pt of blackberries Add everything but the blackberries to a pot to cook down peaches. Fold in blackberries when ready.

Blistered shish*to peppers becoming my favorite snack this week. Heat cast-iron on medium temp with olive oil add peppers (washed and dried out a bit) in single layer to ensure a good sear. Cook till all sides are blistered. Remove from heat and add sea salt. Add sesame seeds or pair it with a citrus aioli of your liking. We added sriracha for a little kick.

A day on a farm with There vision became reality providing baby greens throughout the city. “Satur Farms owned and operated by Paulette Satur and Eberhard Müller is dedicated to growing the finest vegetables and culinary ingredients. It began when they purchased their original farm on the North Fork of Long Island in 1997, with the intention of growing some vegetables and herbs for Chef Müller's restaurant. Colleagues in New York City asked if they might be able to buy their produce, and the farm as a business became a reality.”
