It is with a heavy heart that after 6 and a half years on Tompkins Ave, we have made the difficult decision to close up shop, and our final night of service for Bar Camillo will be Sunday, July 12th. Our last HiFi night at Suono will be next Friday, July 3rd.
Many of you know that we opened five weeks before the COVID shutdown. Our dream of a late-night restaurant/bar with good food and an intimate underground music space had to pivot immediately. We did the Italian grocery thing. We gave away free pizzas with bottles of Negroni. Our beautiful basement space sat empty.
When things reopened, we returned to a greatly altered dining and nightlife landscape in BK. What you’ve heard is true - people go out less, drink less, order less. They even go home earlier. And at the same time, all of our costs have skyrocketed.
This neighborhood helped us stay open through all of our different iterations, and we are forever grateful. We poured our hearts into this space, and feel proud of what we built.
While this chapter may be coming to a close, we do have some new projects in the works and are also looking forward to focusing fully on our two sister restaurants, Camillo, in Flatbush, and our flagship, Locanda Vini e Olii, in Clinton Hill.
And finally a huge thank you to our amazing team, who made this place what it is, and to everyone in our Bed-Stuy community who came and ate crispy pizzas, sipped Negroni and partied with us downstairs. Thank you, for everything ✌️
