We’re making a small change - we will no longer have tables available for laptop usage on weekends at the cafe.

Our core values at Land to Sea have always been rooted in community and connection and we’ve taken lots of care to build a space that is warm, open and welcoming. Our cafe is small and we can get very busy, often with every table full. We want to be able to provide just a little more space for our guests to be present with themselves or one another.

In order to do this, our tables will remain laptop-free all day long on Saturday and Sunday (yes, even the back room!). There will be some laptop-friendly tables on Friday. We have a very full game shelf, as well as a lovely community lending library curated by the amazing , featuring written works on art, philosophy, sociopolitical theory, fiction by BIPOC+ authors and more. We welcome you to use these resources and explore a new book, catch up with a loved one, attend one of our community events or simply enjoy the ambiance we’ve worked so hard to build.

Thank you for helping us continue to shape the space we’ve always dreamed of. If you need to use your laptop, the cafe is still open for laptop use Monday-Friday! Thank you so much for your understanding, and we hope to see you soon ♥️

YEAR OF THE HORSE 2026 CALENDAR by Lauren Kim 🐎💥
Limited Edition Land to Sea Lunar New Year collectable now available online and in-store

To ring in the Year of the Horse, Land to Sea invited multidisciplinary artist to create a calendar print. This print pays homage to her family and this zodiac year by featuring a photograph of a horse taken during a trip with her dad to visit and document the lives of her grandparents in Greenville, Alabama.

Lauren Kim is a photographer, director, designer, and friend of Land to Sea. Her work is marked by dynamic composition that feels textural, movement-heavy, and experimental, frequently adding and subtracting layers of colour and texture to reveal the final form.

As we step into the Year of the Fire Horse - a year driven by intense energy, passion, and momentum - Lauren captures and shares a wish to move steadfast with optimism and strength through whatever may come our way.

“For obvious reasons, it felt fitting to build a design around this image for Year of the Fire Horse, but it’s personally significant to me because my dad was born in 1966, the last time the Year of the Fire Horse came around. It is through my grandparents’ bold decision to immigrate to America, and my parents’ support, that I get to pursue my life as an artist today. I am forever grateful.”

GIDDYUP FOR THE YEAR OF THE FIRE HORSE ❤️‍🔥🐎

We always look forward to programming Lunar New Year, and this year we’re excited to offer something for everyone all day long! We’re partnering with some of our favorite artists to join us in celebration as we welcome this year with lion dancing, live music, delicious drinks, art, special merch and more!

8a-6p: The cafe will be open all day long (no RSVP necessary for daytime events!) featuring mooncakes, LNY merch and some…fiery… specialty drinks 
1-3p: Artist Tzu Ching Chen/Jessy () will be at the shop writing custom calligraphy Lunar New Year couplets. Bring one home to welcome good fortune in the New Year. 
3-5p: Live TCM Ear Seeding by Bec (). Based in Traditional Chinese Medicine, ear seeds are a from of auriculotherapy, a noninvasive acupressure, which uses pressure points in the ear to help stimulate other parts of the body and manage symptoms of anxiety, stress, and pain.

Kick off your celebratory evening with us starting at 7pm:
7-730p: Lion dance by W.O.W. Project (). W.O.W Project is the only all-queer, trans, and women lion dance troupe in NYC. Founded in 2016, WOW strengthens Manhattan’s Chinatown community through arts, activism, and cultural organizing. 
7:30p: Dance to sounds by Bea Trinidad () featuring cantopop, hip hop, RnB, house and more
7-10p: Enjoy special LNY cocktails + light bites by Land to Sea, and a fun horse drawing competition :-)

We will be closing all day on Friday, January 30th in solidarity with the National Strike.

Land to Sea believes in safe communities and a greater collective consciousness that protects our people. We strive to be a place that feels like home, especially when the world feels scary and violent to be in. This Friday, January 30th, we invite you to participate in the National Strike to send a message that ICE must be abolished. We will continue to share resources to learn, organize, and protect one another on our stories.
