A good friend encouraged me to create a GoFundMe, and honestly, those of you who know me know how hard it is for me to ask for help. I have a hard enough time asking someone to help me cut vegetables, let alone asking for help paying bills.

But here I am, being honest and vulnerable.

We have emptied our 401(k), juggled bills, and stretched every dollar we have just to keep Sorta Rican going. Most months, we’re paying bills and buying the supplies we need just in time to keep things from being shut off. We are working as hard as we possibly can while still trying to serve our community and keep this dream alive.

I know our bills are not anyone else’s responsibility, and I would never expect anyone to carry that burden for us. But if everyone who follows and supports us gave just $2, it could make an incredible difference and help us keep going until this relentless economy—and this brutal heat—finally give us a little room to breathe.

We’ve poured our hearts, our savings, and everything we have into this business. We aren’t ready to give up on this dream, and we’re asking for a little help to keep fighting.

Chef tip🧑🏽‍🍳 season in layers as you cook is so important.
🧂 Salt in layers — Season your food a little throughout cooking instead of dumping all the salt in at the end. It builds a much deeper flavor.

🌿 Add fresh herbs twice — Put some cilantro/herbs in while cooking and save some for the very end. You get both deep flavor and fresh brightness.
