So this weekend, we took a short trip northeast to Miami Ok. for the BBQ competition. This year it was hosted at the fairgrounds which provided all teams a quiet, easy going environment. They put on a great contest each year but this year was was the best. We cooked the backyard division and had a blast. I thought our chicken was better than the judges but the judges liked my ribs way more than I did so I think maybe that evened out. We ended up with a 5th place call in chicken and a 2nd place call with ribs. We missed reserve grand by a little more than 2 points for 3rd over all. We couldn’t do it without the products that get us these calls.

Well we made it back from an amazing KCBS event in Derby KS, Smoke on the Plains BBQ & Music Fest. While Mother Nature wanted to play games, we made the best of it. We finally got to meet up with some really great people and got to hang out with some really great cooks. Thank you Aww Shucks BBQ and Dr. Squealgood BBQ for visiting with us and sharing your knowledge of this sport. It was great catching up with our good friends Guy In A Truck BBQ and Bull in the Ring BBQ and Mark Pata as well.

We didn’t do as well as we had hoped. We had hell keeping the temps up on the Hunsaker Smokers drums due to high winds and heavy rains. We did lose 1 of our canopy’s but we had a ball watching the big front end loader getting stuck trying to pull some of the hige rigs out of the mud. Watching the backhoe pulling out the loader was entertaining. We placed 12th in chicken and had a 3 way tie for 9th in Ribs for an 8th place overall. We want to give a big shout out to Butcher BBQ, Blues Hog, Man Meat BBQ B&B Charcoal and Prairie Fresh for the great products that allow us to do what we love to do.

Well we finally made it home from the Lake Views & BBQ event in Wagoner Ok. This was a Rib Cook Off Association event and man was it fun.

Day 1 wasn’t as good to us as we had hoped but we still finished 17th out of 32 teams.

Day 2 was much better. We finished Ribs A (baby backs) walking with 6th place and 10th in Ribs B (Spares) and 5th place overall.

This was a great event and can’t wait for the next round. Congrats to all the teams who heard their number and got to walk.
