Today’s fundraiser for chef Emily just got a little more special thanks to an incredible donation from Jenuine Gardens LLC.

If you’re in town, please consider stopping by The Ivy Table from 11 to 3. Emilys friends and coworkers have created an incredible event with a barbecue lunch, mini farmers market, and now the chance to win a beautiful plant. 100% of the funds from the event go directly to Emily and family to help with medical expenses for baby Sage, travel to and from doctors appointments, and time off work.

What an incredible surprise!

Today, representatives from the City of Brighton stopped by the café to surprise us with a Hometown Hero Award in recognition of the positive difference The Ivy Table is making in our community.

As meaningful as this recognition is, it doesn't belong to our founders. It belongs to every person who has helped make The Ivy Table what it is.

To our staff who show up every day with such selfless hearts...
To our volunteers who faithfully give their time...
To our donors who believe in and support our mission...
And to every one of you who chooses to dine with us, pay it forward, or simply tell someone else about The Ivy Table...

You are the reason this place exists and this award is a reflection of what we have built together.

Thank you to the City of Brighton, MI Government for this incredible honor. And thank you to this amazing community for embracing The Ivy Table from day one. We truly couldn't do this without you.

Food safety has always been our highest priority.

Many of you have seen the recent news regarding the cyclosporiasis outbreak. While the investigation continues, early findings point to lettuce and salad greens as a possible source (although no specific grower, supplier, or product has been identified).

We are NOT aware of any illnesses associated with The Ivy Table Cafe, but we believe it's important to be proactive whenever food safety issues arise.

One of the key recommendation right now from Michigan's Health Department is to wash produce thoroughly and to avoid pre-bagged lettuce, and we want to assure our guests that that's exactly what we are doing in the cafe.

We are not purchasing pre-cut lettuce. Instead, we wash and trim our greens in-house daily, just as we do with all of the fresh produce we serve.

For those who want eat well, but are choosing to avoid salads right now, we've got you covered. This week we are featuring two delicious vegetable based soups- Chipotle Corn Chowder and Mushroom Leek. We've also added an amazing Apple Orchard Potato Salad packed with potato, sweet potato, apple, celery, and fresh herbs, AND, we've added a new chia pudding bowl topped with granola and fruit.

You may also notice a few temporary changes to our menu. For example, we've removed raspberries from our fruit bowls as an added precaution. Although they have not been linked to this outbreak, raspberries have been associated with previous outbreaks and are difficult to thoroughly clean because of their delicate shape and texture.

We appreciate your understanding as we take this extra precautionary step to help protect our guests.

The people we serve tell our story better than we ever could

A few weeks ago, the marketing team from Lake Trust Credit Union spent the day at The Ivy Table capturing photos and video to help share our mission with the community. We're incredibly grateful for their partnership and for the care they took in telling our story.

One interview especially stood out.

A member of our community shared that The Ivy Table has become more than a place for him to receive a meal during a difficult season. It's a place where he has found kindness, hope, and people who truly care.

That's why we're here.

Yes, we serve food. But what we're really serving is dignity, belonging, and the reminder that no one should have to face life's hardships alone.

Thank you, Lake Trust, for so beautifully capturing the heart of The Ivy Table—and thank you to everyone who makes it possible for us to exist.

Whether you're coming to receive a pay-what-you-can meal, or dining with us to bless others by paying-it-forward, we'd love fo see you soon.

Serving Up Help for a member of The Ivy Table Family

Two weeks ago, our own Chef Emily and her husband, Colin, celebrated the birth of their first child. During pregnancy, baby Sage was diagnosed with a serious heart condition that will require open-heart surgery in the coming months.

Next Saturday, staff and volunteers of The Ivy Table are hosting a community fundraiser to help with medical expenses, travel costs, and time away from work for appointments. The Ivy Table is providing the space. Friends have donated the food. Staff and volunteers are donating their time to prepare and serve it all.

All are invited to join us on July 18 from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM for a special BBQ lunch and farmers market fundraiser

Lunch Menu
• BBQ Pulled Pork
• Creamy Mac & Cheese
• Coleslaw
• Watermelon
• Root Beer Floats

We'll also have a special farmers market where you can purchase individually packaged Ivy Table favorites to enjoy at home, including:
• Michigan Cherry Salad Vinaigrette
• Garlic Dill Pickles
• House-made Granola
• Strawberry Jam
• Banana Bread
• Brownies
• Lemon Cookies
• Our famous 15-Herb Chicken Rub (a fan favorite at our Great American Table dinner)

Every ingredient has been donated. Every hour has been volunteered. And 100% of every dollar spent that day will go directly to Emily and her family.

Whether you know Emily personally, have been touched by her story, or just love dining with us, we hope you'll stop by.

An RSVP isn't required, but would really help plan how much food to prepare.

Come hungry. Grab lunch. Pick up a few favorites. Help ease the financial burden on a young family when they need it most. ❤️

Your Review Might Be Why Someone Walks Through Our Doors.

Lately we've been meeting more and more people who found The Ivy Table simply because they were looking for a great place to eat while passing through Brighton. They saw our reviews, decided to stop in, and only then discovered that we're also a nonprofit with a pay-what-you-can mission.

Those conversations are some of our favorites.

For many people, online reviews are the deciding factor in where they eat. Every kind word you share helps more people discover our cafe, enjoy a great meal, and learn about the work happening here every day.

If you've dined with us, would you take a minute to leave a review on Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp, or Facebook?

Whether you came for breakfast, lunch, or one of our special events your experience could encourage someone else to stop in.

Thank you for helping us spread the word.
We couldn't do what we do without the support of our incredible community.

One drink can make a difference!

We're excited to be partnering with The Spice & Tea Exchange of Brighton at this weekend's Taste of Brighton!

When you stop by their tent for one of their signature iced teas or lemonades, $1 from every beverage sold will be donated to The Ivy Table. It's such a simple (and delicious!) way to support our mission of feeding the community.

Come say hi. We'll be at their booth helping pour beverages and selling
our famous Lemon Cookies and Ivy Table Merch.

We're always thankful when local businesses help spread the word about what we do. We're even more thankful when they choose to invest in it.

If you're enjoying Taste of Brighton this weekend, we'd love for you to stop by, grab a drink, pick up a cookie, and say hi.
