There are times as a small business owner when you wonder some days why you were doing what you are doing... and then there are days where The Lord puts people in your path to remind you.
Meet Stoby... my new friend! He came into my store today and absolutely made my day!!! He showed up because he had seen us on Tennesse Crossroads, and he came for our Southern Meat &3. I talked him into the banana pudding at the register, because I told him it was the real thing. (IYKYK💕) I went back to the table to ask him and his friend he was visiting with how things were, and we began a conversation.
I asked him, "I see you are wearing a World War II hat, did you serve?"
He answered yes. I told him that my Grandaddy had also served, thanked him for his service, and Stoby proceeded to tell me that he served in Germany. He told me so many things about his time there. I finally asked him, "How old are you?"
He replied.. "Guess!"
Well, no one ever wants to do that, but I said "89?"
He replied "If you add 12 years!"
I almost fell over,realizing that my new friend sitting at my table was 101.. He will be 102 on Christmas Day.
I proceeded to tell him how he had made my day, and made him promise that he would come back to my store. He gave me a huge hug, a big kiss on the cheek , told me how I had made HIS day, and we took a picture.
I pray that Stoby will truly come back, because it is not often that you are given a gift to meet a person who has done so much life, and can teach you so much. It was the highlight of my day!!! Things like this remind me why I GET to do what I do, and I am thankful!!
