Dear Friends of Quick & Tasty’s,
You may have noticed that we just updated our menu. You may also have noticed that we have raised our prices on several of our items. It's our first time doing so in well over a year. You also may have noticed that we have NOT changed the pricing on many of our other items. As that will serve as evidence, we do not raise our prices to get rich. We do not try to raise our prices as much as we can get away with. We raise our prices simply to stay in business.
Just over a little over a year ago, we were paying $17 for a case of fryer oil. Ground beef patties were $2.99 per pound. Now, fryer oil is $50 for a case and our patties are $4 per pound. Everything else that we serve has increased in cost similarly. Don’t even get me started on the non-food supplies, including the packaging materials. Our utilities and rent are higher than before as well. Also, in order to maintain a well-trained staff, we offer higher pay than our competitors.
If you’re a fan of Quick & Tasty’s, you know that we use quality ingredients. We prep our own veggies, instead of using dehydrated onions that you pour hot water into or pre-shredded lettuce that is chemically treated to maximize the shelf-life. We do not use buns/bread loaded with high-fructose corn syrup to make our food addictive like some bigger companies do. We don’t use burger patties that are frozen meat pucks or loaded with soy flour as a filler. We use 100% Washington-grown grass-fed beef that has never been frozen. We don’t pre-make our food and keep them in a warmer but to order. And our ticket times still average only about 4 minutes.
To provide you with quality food and fast and accurate service, we need to charge the prices that we do. Someone once told me, “The worst disservice you can offer your customers is not being able to serve them by going out of business.” These truly are unprecedented times. Many small businesses are on the brink of having to shutter their doors. Meanwhile prices of ingredients and supplies seem to be increasing with no end in sight.
Even with all of these challenges, our prices are better than McDonald’s and other similar companies. Their quarter-pounder deluxe with cheese is $7.79. Ours costs $7.49. Sure, you can get cheap food from McDonalds by buying off their value menu and using coupons. But have you considered the quality of what you’re purchasing? What you’re putting into your body? Here at Quick & Tasty’s, we only serve food that we would want to eat ourselves (Most of us do daily!). We don’t forgo our conscience and integrity by serving you food unfit for human consumption. We don’t put profit before people.
So if you’re a friend of Quick & Tasty’s, I would like to ask you to do us and yourself a favor. Eat food made with quality ingredients and support a local small business. Tell your friends about us. We want to continue to serve our community. We want to be around for our supporters as long as we can and expand so that we can serve more communities. We will work on coming up with some deals and promotions so that our food is more accessible to more people. We welcome any ideas so please feel free to share them with us via email: [email protected]
As always, we appreciate your business and support. We hope to see you at the window!
Sincerely,
Josh Woo
