Dear Family & Friends, it is with great sorrow that I announce my mother, Su Chong “Suzy” Goree has passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones on February 3, 2026. She had many battles with cancer, and put up the greatest fight of her life, all the way to the end. We are all so proud of her and everything she has accomplished. She built her homemade restaurant, Suzy’s Kitchen, with her own recipes and hard work, and has shown our family what real love and dedication meant.
We are so thankful for all of our customers through our 17 years at Suzy’s, so many memories and really, family we made along the way. My mom Su loved her job, she loved her food, her customers, and everyone she met. We all miss her so much already.
As some may have noticed, Suzy’s Kitchen’s menu and service has been a little different over the past year, and we apologize for any mistakes and misunderstandings that were made. Since Suzy decided to fight full time and enter treatment with me by her side, we have been severely short staffed and very downhearted. We downsized and changed our menu in hopes to make a smoother change for my brothers to take over while I tended to mom, so we are sorry we had to take away her famous home made Mandu. Those were my favorite also =)
My brothers and sister in law have done their best to take over what Mom and I have managed all these years, and we are SO thankful for them so that I was able to care 100% for mom at my home. I can’t imagine being able to do that without them.
Everyone, we truly appreciate your support all these years, and continuing to support our family restaurant while we make this tough transition. Mom would love you for giving us grace on days that are hard on us. Sorry we have been closed, but we are planning to open tomorrow (Thurs) as normal, although we may have to close for a couple hours for another engagement. Once we have the plans set for mom’s service, we may close the restaurant for a short while. We really appreciate your patience and understanding, and will try to be as timely as possible!
