Fun Fact:

The term 'hot dog' may have originated as a joke about the resemblance of certain sausages to small, thin, and long dogs. In the mid-1800s, German immigrant butchers in the United States began selling sausage variations, some of which were thin and long, similar to the dachshund breed, and referred to them as dachshund sausages. Over time, the phrase may have evolved into hot dog. Alternatively, another theory suggests that the name can be attributed to a cartoonist who observed a vendor selling hot daschund sausages during a baseball game at New York City's Polo Grounds.
