The Hub The Hub is a cafe, bar, and bike shop designed to make the experiences that make life worth living possible. Welcome to The Hub. What is The Hub?
(288)

We serve lunch and dinner and feature 9 taps of strictly local craft beer and cider. On the surface it’s just another theme restaurant. It’s a place to park, meet, warm up, cool down, eat, drink, use the restroom, all under an aura of bicycles. Look a little deeper though and we think you’ll find that The Hub is a place to celebrate life simply through living it. We celebrate by playing, eating,

drinking, socializing, and relaxing. Our preferred way to play is riding, and our toy is the bicycle. But we don’t care what your way to play is, as long as you like to play. If you like to ride, it can also be by car, motorcycle, or snowmobile. Maybe you like to play in the woods as a hiker, hunter, or rock climber. Maybe you like to be on the water paddling, trolling, skiing, or tubing. Or maybe your favorite way to play is relaxing on the dock, or playing cards, or putting together puzzles. We could go on forever but the point is we don’t care, just as long as you like to play. Every day life is busy, hectic, and stressful. We work hard to make sure life at The Hub is easy, pleasurable, and memorable. Come play with us. We exist to support the activities that make life worth living. We believe that experiences, connections, and memories are more important than things, but sometimes things make experiences, connections, and memories possible. We work hard to ensure you’re playing harder than you work, and that your memories are full of play and not of work (unless of course, you play at work).

This week on maintenance Mondays.. brake bleeding!

The bottle is full of old brake fluid, both mineral oil and DOT. You can see all the nasty stuff that comes out of your brakes stuck between where the two fluids separate in the middle.

The second slide shows the filthy fluid that came out of the brake vs the clean new fluid.

Bleeding brakes regularly isn’t just about braking performance. It helps prolong their life too, especially on DOT fluid systems.

A/C is cool and all… but nothing beats when the weather is so good the doors are wide open.

Let’s try this maintenance Monday thing again.

The cobbler has shoes! What you’re looking at is the chainring and pulleys from my bike.

Despite proper chain replacement intervals, this generation of SRAM/Truvativ chainrings wears out. I’ve seen it on more bikes than mine, and I’ve never seen it on any other chainrings. Look closely and you can see that the valleys between the teeth are elongated on the old one.

The pulley wheel wear is normal. Mine were very worn causing sloppy shifting.. new pulleys and it’s like new again!
