Students at Florence High School recently had the opportunity to enjoy herbs cultivated in our on-site garden beds at The Spot Downtown. They enjoyed a caprese salad variant featuring locally grown basil. Additionally, students from other schools conducted a comparative taste test of spearmint and peppermint using everyday items like chewing gum and candy canes, documenting their findings in journals. What a delightful day it was that we shared together. Over the past week, we took great pleasure in recognizing the outstanding contributions of the members of the Brandon Garden Club who partner with us at The Spot Downtown. Our annual tea party is a cherished event where these remarkable ladies are treated to a morning of elegance, presented with roses, and escorted to their seats by our courteous gentlemen. As they savor refreshments served by our young ladies, a spirit of friendship and community fills the air. Following the celebration, we were pleased to share a slideshow review of the year's activities, captured through photos from each work session, and we invite you to view the photos and share them with others. Our final gathering with the Brandon Garden Club culminated in a spectacular celebration of the school year, elevated to new heights by Brady Dunaway's mesmerizing visit from the MS Natural Science Museum. With his infectious enthusiasm and expert guidance, students and staff embarked on a thrilling adventure into the wonders of nature right outside our doors at The Spot Downtown. We ended the morning by launching seed disks onto the hill, crafted from clay and seeds gathered by the students, and savored a delicious dirt worm dessert courtesy of Ms. Sue. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Brady for his illuminating presentation and to Sue Alexander for orchestrating this unforgettable event! Kudos to the Brandon Garden Club for an extraordinary year of igniting curiosity and inspiring adventure in our students!
