The Wednesday Word! ✝️

As I mentioned last week, we have really been into the bird app Merlin. Yesterday, my grandson and I went to Marilla Reservoir and tracked 8 new species of birds. Along our walk, he said “this is like an amazing scavenger hunt!”

It was so true and reminded me that all of our days should be lived this way. Looking for the hidden blessings of God in each day should be our posture! It also reminded me of a podcast I had listened to that very morning about coveting. While the verse warns to not to be greedy for earthly possessions, I also believe coveting can be anything other than contentment with what God has provided in the present moment. Maybe it is a relationship that isn’t where we want it to be, a number on the scale or a limit of your physical abilities.

These are all things than can compete for the attention of our hearts. Instead, let us marvel today at the divine scavenger hunt God has set before us 🩷

The Wednesday Word! ✝️

I have come to enjoy watching birds. We also have discovered the Merlin app which will listen to the song of a particular bird and identify it. As we get excited when a new bird appears on the list, I try not to forget the awe and wonder of God in it.

First, He created countless types of birds each with unique coloring and song. But this verse in Matthew often comes to mind also as a reminder of how He wants to provide for us. I know this is an area of my own life I have struggled to surrender but as I do, I find such peace and joy in my life. This verse is a powerful truth and reminder of just how well cared for we are 🩷
