We will miss our neighbors ❤️🥺
Dear friends, customers, neighbors, family…
We’ve decided that we will not be re-opening our little shop. Despite the obvious setbacks we had from Hurricane Milton, there are several other factors contributing to this decision.
To first address the damage from the storm… losing the roof caused many other physical issues inside from electrical and insulation to just a ton of cosmetic damage. We would need to start from scratch again, and Oscar and I just don’t have it in us to continue. It’s not an efficient use of our time.
Next, ‘time’, was another contributing factor. We opened the store to run it on our own terms and create more time for our family, but the reality of a brick-and-mortar business sucked our time away from our kids and being together as a family. We only have this one life, and our growing boys are our priority 💚
We’ve also experienced a great deal of challenges relating to the red tape within a difficult system. Our business neighbors and friends have fought alongside us to push through many barriers, but as you know, it requires much time, emotional fortitude, and financial commitment. Those are not battles that we can continue to fight on a regular basis. However, we still live in this neighborhood and love our little, Old Manatee. We will continue to spend our money in these places, attend events, beautify the streets and buildings, and lend our voice where we can. It’s a special community that deserves ALL of our support as it navigates the pains of growing.
Lastly, making a living is of course a priority. We were not able to efficiently operate a brick-and-mortar store and live a comfortable life. Ya, we struggled financially😅 Despite having material needs met though many secondhand sources and creative budgeting, bills only get paid with cold hard cash😁
We are sad to move out of this space. We love our little building. She’s been so good to us. And we are sad to leave the community of business owners here in Old Manatee. But Segunda Vida as a way of life, and as a brand, will NEVER go away! We created Segunda Vida as a way to reach others that share our passion for sustainability, community, and our planet. That will continue:)
We will continue to be present online with social media, sharing thoughts on sustainable living and possibly creating more recycled treasures, selling on FB and in other places, and perhaps you’ll catch us in person if we decide to ‘pop-up’ around the area😊
THANK YOU. Thank you for believing in us, visiting us, supporting us…and thank you for the friendships and family that were created in our little turquoise building💚
