This week, Kefi was awarded the 2022 Adaptative Reuse and Redevelopment Award from the American Planning Association - Sun Coast Section at a ceremony in Tampa.

We are so appreciative that one of our guests nominated us! “Adaptive reuse” refers to the process of converting an old site or building for a new purpose, other than which it was built or designed... like how our courtyard was originally built as a bank drive-through.

We would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge that our location was initially re-developed by Tellers. However, we are immensely proud to have taken their idea to the next level and created a unique space for our guest experience.

"Absolutely adorable in every way.

A hidden gem that is the perfect environment for breakfast or lunch. The menu features traditional Greek dishes with a modern twist. The coffee and drinks are incredible, and the service is fast and very kind.

Being Greek, I was beyond excited to find this Cafe and have now taken my family here multiple times to share the love.

In the Greek Orthodox faith, Epiphany is an important cultural & religious tradition and the Tampa Bay area celebrates in a unique
way.

Epiphany commemorates the baptism of Christ, but locally, St. Nicholas Cathedral in Tarpon Springs hosts the annual festivities including a Procession, from the Church down Tarpon Avenue to Spring Bayou. There is a short Blessing of the Waters service where a young lady dove is released to signify the Holy Spirit. After the dove is released, the Archbishop casts a cross into the bayou, and boatloads of young men aged 16-18 leap in after it.

The one diver who retrieves the cross is considered blessed for the entire year. We've had three members of our family dive for the Cross, going back to 1998 or so when our cousin Anthony first participated!

From a recent Yelp review that made us feel extra joyful ✨ thanks, Ian S. from Tampa!

Wow. I'd been eyeing this spot for a while and so glad I finally tried them. They're tucked behind the office building on 1201 6th Ave W so finding a free 2 hour parking spot nearby (just up north by one street on 11th St West) and walking over wasn't a challenge. This place is a total vibe with the outdoor dining setting.

I tried their refreshing blood orange espresso soda made with 2 shots espresso, sparkling water, and blood orange. Refreshing, citrus forward and caffeinated - definitely a home run. They do offer a nice variety of signature drinks so definitely worth checking out more of them. For food i had the Zeus pita without pork or bacon, changed them for scrambled eggs, and added cucumber to the item which already has tomato, white onion, feta and tzatziki sauce already incorporated. What a savory scrumptious delight that was!

This is one of those places you wish all the success in the world to because they're that fantastic. Don't let this one pass you by!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today we're reflecting on how thankful we are for the community support and encouragement that have been beyond our wildest dreams.

Kefi's biggest blessing, though, has been our AWESOME team, including Jeff and Juli since Day One, plus Dalida and Jayna who joined us mid-year.

They are the ones who work so hard to deliver you the best possible guest experience that keeps you coming back for more. They make it possible for us, as owners, to also have some semblance of a healthy life despite being first-year restaurateurs. We will never forget your contributions of time and talent to this special place. 💙

We had grand plans to take a team picture celebrating Kefi's 1st anniversary.

Everyone was on time and looking spiffy. It took a few minutes, but we found a break in the early morning rhythm of guests at the window and recruited some experts to snap a few pics.

Like most families, it turned out to be nearly impossible to get one where everyone was smiling in the same direction. And then everyone needed to head in different directions - other jobs, the airport, etc. - and, of course, serving our people. So we weren't able to take a perfect team photo.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that a moment in time was captured, and it really was a perfect representation of our journey this year.

We had an idea, and people came together to support it, to help bring it to life. We tried the very best we knew how.

Every day at Kefi, we're trying to do something unique, creative, and enjoyable. It's not always perfect, but (we think) it's pretty damn good. We're trying really hard.

Year One is in the books, and overall, it's been awesome! Thanks for all the encouragement and love. 💙 -E

How beautiful is our local Greek Orthodox Church in Messini, the Sokos family's hometown?

As kids, Eleni and her sister Dimitra (the namesake of our overnight oats!) loved walking the few blocks from our house, past this Church, to the « φούρνος » to pick up bread for our family's lunch, which is the big gathering of the day.

Do you know the story of The O.G. Greek Salad? The O.G. stands for The Original Greek, which for us represents Eleni’s Papou, Dimitrios...known to many in the area as Jimmy the Greek. Our Greek Salad dressing was passed down from the restaurant he opened in 1976, Demetrios' Pizza House, and the Greek salads were beloved by many until the family retired earlier this year.

We were so pleased to attend the grand opening and ribbon cutting at Kefi Streetside Cafe on Friday. Their walk-up window is located at 1201 6th Ave W. downtown, and we can personally attest that the food and coffee is worth the trip. We're very happy to welcome Kefi to our array of downtown offerings.

Let's give a warm welcome to our newest DTBT business, Kefi Streetside Cafe! Co-owned by Eleni Sokos and Jason Simpson, this new cafe offers Mediterranean-inspired coffee and cuisine.

Kefi's outdoor dining space (pronounced KEH-fee) totally transforms this section of 12th Street West into an oasis of delight in downtown Bradenton. Breakfast and beverages are available now, lunch will be added soon, with catering and delivery to come.

LEASED! It was such a joy working with Eleni Sokos and Jason Simpson to set them up with a fantastic location for their amazing new venture, Kefi Streetside Cafe! Check them and and get ready for their grand opening!
