That’s the point.

I intentionally separate the fragile photographic emulsion from a Polaroid and transfer it by hand.

Every crack.
Every wrinkle.
Every missing edge.

They become part of the story.

These aren’t reproductions.
They’re one-of-a-kind original works of art.

Not every photograph deserves to stay perfect.

Polaroid Emulsion transfers stand the test of time.

This Northeast Bozeman neighborhood scene began as a Polaroid, but the real artwork happened after the shutter clicked.

I carefully lifted the fragile photographic emulsion from the instant film and transferred it by hand using water onto archival water color paper.

Every wrinkle, tear, and imperfection is unique—no two pieces can ever be recreated.

The result feels less like a photograph and more like a memory before development changed the neighborhood that lives on your living room walls.

Which is exactly what I love about this process.

By lifting and transferring the emulsion from instant film onto watercolor paper, the imagery gains a weathered softness that reflects both the passage of time and the tactile quality of human environments.
