The outpouring of love that has been shown to KO the last few weeks has been nothing short of mind blowing.
A few people mentioned they were sad to see the end.
We want to say that for KO, there is nothing but joy. The fact we got the opportunity to say goodbye was an amazing accomplishment itself.
So many businesses in the food and beverage world never got this chance, particularly during the last 18 months. That’s reason enough to celebrate.
So to get the opportunity to actually be able to see so many people over the last few weeks has only solidified not only the hard work and dedication of all KO staff past and present, but also the commitment and loyalty of so many of YOU!
Be happy that we got these final goodbyes in and that we had 11 years, 2 shops, a couple million pies and once in a 100 year pandemic together!
If anyone has any additional pics, videos etc to share please send along as we plan on posting a nice display of this pie-nal run here at the shipyard!

ONE THOUSAND AND SIXTY PIES (1060)
That’s the pie-nal number we’ve made and will be ready to be baked off tomorrow, for the last day of KO at the shipyard!
Before you ask:
No frozen pies available.
No pre order pies available.
1 pie per person. If you’re polite and we have enough we can also do a sausage roll,😉.
Potato wedges also available. No other food items.
Limited amount of Anzacs, Lamos and Ice Cream Sandwiches.
To combat the lines and to create a more festive feel, we will be having KO staff come take your order as well as have people line up.
There will also be an outdoor CASH BAR. So pack some cash if you’re gonna have a couple cheeky ones.
DON’T BE A WA**ER!
We have a lot of pies but it’s still limited, so please be understanding of this. We have been absolutely blown away by everyone’s love and support over the last few weeks and are expecting a solid turn out. We’ll do all we can to keep the line moving, the pies baking and the beers flowing.
Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. Like every other day, we will announce via IG when we estimate to be sold out.
The weather also looks like it’s cooperating so we look forward to a good old fashioned send off tomorrow!
We open at 12. Based on experience, 1060 pies should get us to 4-5pm 🤞
Don’t forget, if you can’t make it or miss out, the pies are living on with the crew!

TBT OVERLOAD!
As we approach our final days trading on Saturday (more on that tomorrow), we figured a look back at the early days was worth a post!
We started off with a mere boxed in gravel pit, some repurposed shipyard spools and went from there.
Added bonus pics of our first ever shindig, when a few mates and the came along to feature it for a cover story for their Sunday magazine.
Bonus pic of one of the very limited and super fun weddings we hosted in the yard for our mates and Neighbours, Sam and Maggie.
Bonus bonus extra shot of our unofficial mascot for those early years, ‘Smuggler’ the cheeky little budgie who kept many a kid amused at the entrance.
The yard has certainly changed a LOT since we arrived and it’s been a bloody pleasure being part of such a terrific transformation, culminating in what we currently have, and what the future holds.
We are thrilled to be passing on the pie torch to the crew as they take things to the next phase!

WHAT A WEEK!
It was a little overwhelming and a lot mind blowing having so many familiar, friendly and patient appreciative faces pop by the yard over the last week.
Some days were stupidly hot and sunny, others were in the wind and pouring rain. Yet everyone turned up and made the most of it!
It was awesome hearing so many peoples stories, whether it was how the pies took them back to childhood memories in Zimbabwe, first dates that turned into marriages, babies that are now teenage pie lovers and even pie lovers that are now running for mayor of Boston! That’s just to name a few.
Be sure to follow our IG stories this week, as we will be dumping loads of photographic memories from the last 11 years of pie life.
We will also be giving more info on the logistics on the Pie-nal day of trading on Saturday. It’s going to a great day and a lot less lining up!
Finally. A LOT of people have contacted us regarding purchasing a piece of KO history / memorabilia. Most of the stuff at KO is spoken for, however if you scroll to the final image on this post, you will see an incredible print. It was created by a fellow Aussie, illustrator Bernice and she has these awesome prints for purchase. So please reach out to her directly if interested!
Thanks to everyone for so much PIE LOVE. We are blown away. It’s been the perfect immersion and training on what the crew can expect once they start pumping out the pies once we call it a day!

THERE’S NO TROPIECAL STORM WITHOUT PIE!!
We’ve made it through countless blizzards, busted pipes, blown electrical transformers, power outages and a once in a hundred year pandemic. So there’s NO WAY a tropical storm is going to stop us today!
We know we’ve had to be flexible and adapt to the daily crowds based off demand, however today we are keeping it simple.
Today’s hours and pie allotment:
12-3pm OR until sold out.
5 PIE MAXIMUM PER PERSON.
NO FROZEN PIES AVAILABLE.
ALL CONFIRMED PRE ORDERS ARE READY FOR COLLECTION.

HURRICANE MEAT PIE WARNING!
Words cannot describe the immense gratitude and appreciation we have had over the last few days.
We thought perhaps the final day would be like that, but the love for pie is absolutely unbelievable.
As mentioned previously, we have a limited crew and limited time to keep producing pies to sell.
We have a 5 pie maximum for anyone that hasn’t pre ordered (smart move to those that did)
To try and ration them out a bit longer.
HOWEVER…….
With it being a Saturday, we anticipate selling out VERY early today. We open at 12. Get here early if you want pies.
As soon as we know we are going to run out, we will let people know, so they won’t be in line for nothing.
We know there will be disappointed people, for which we sincerely are apologetic for, in advance.
Finally next Saturday is the final day of KO and we will have 1000 pies to go, so keep that in mind when planning your pie-nal KO adventure!

DOING THE MATH!
First off, bloody hell that was one absolute RIPPER of a Thursday arvo in the yard. Wow.
We are baking off 600 pies each day and loading the freezer with 200 but clearly our ‘calculations’ were off as we still had to turn people away. ☹️
So with that in mind, we’ve run the ‘numbers’ and here’s how we will do it from here on out.
Each party that orders is limited to ‘5 pies’. That’s hot or frozen, not both.
We will open at 12 and close when we run out. We will post as soon as we know we are going to run out.
We also will let people in line know, like yesterday, as soon as we are aware so that nobody waits in line in vain.
We have a special pie today, it’s a heirloom tomato, taleggio and thyme pie. It’s vegetarian, it’s rich, it’s awesome. We suggest ‘dividing’ it up for multiple people to share.
We know it’s not a perfectly ‘rational’ way to ensure as many people get 🥧, but we want as many people to ‘multiply’ their last option to enjoy KO.
Please come early, be aware we are making as many as we can and that we can’t say enough that all the ❤️ is’equal’ from our end.

BLOODY HELL THAT WAS FAST AND INCREDIBLY FLATTERING!
Thanks to everyone who emailed in their pre order frozen pies. We have now maxed out and will only have a LIMITED amount of frozen pies for in person pick up each day this week.
We are only a small crew and are frantically making and baking as many pies as possible.
The outpouring of pie love and sharing of KO stories, thanks and appreciation has also BLOWN us away!
Thanks to everyone and we are really bloody excited for our pie-nal stretch beginning today 4-8pm!
