Higher Grounds is a public event open to the whole community every Thursday. We hope you will stop by to visit with your local Bonny Doon neighbors. We serve something savory and something sweet every Thursday morning along with our Espresso drinks and drip coffee. Lulu Carpenters generously provides delicious wholesale beans for our little volunteer adventure. Grey Bears (http://www.greybears.org/) delivers bags for seniors here every week here as well, so you will see many of our Bonny Doon seniors here. May we be guided be these wise words: "No corrupt words come out of my mouth. I speak encouragement, that it may impart grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29"

Most people think love is a feeling. And when the feelings fade, or the pressure builds, or the person disappoints us, we start to think maybe the love is gone.

But here’s the truth: real love is a choice.

That’s how Jesus loved you.
He didn’t go to the cross because He felt like it.
He was in agony. His sweat was drops of blood. He asked the Father if there was any other way.
But He chose to obey. He chose to love.

That changes how we love others, especially when it’s hard.
We stop asking “Are they meeting my needs?”
“Are they still the right person?”

Instead, we ask: “What do they need right now?
Especially when they don’t deserve it, but I am willing to give it anyway.

That’s what transforms marriages.
That’s what heals friendships.
That’s what shows the world who Jesus really is.

And the only way to live that kind of love… is to stay deeply connected to the One who gave it first.
