Hi Guys, lots of inquiries the last two weeks for a project update. It's been 10 months since City Council approved our zoning and we really thought we would have broken ground by now. But alas, we are still stuck back in Community Development, the group that took 2-1/2 years of beating up our plan before zoning, and now we are stuck there again. Our last Development Order plan was rejected because of silly stuff like we 'only' had 125 trees instead of the 137 their code said we needed, and they need to be 30' wide canopy trees instead of 20' wide at maturity.... in addition to keeping all the mangroves, and the 10' multi pathway, the mega parking lot, and oh yeah, the buildings that keep getting smaller to accommodate all this stuff. We are putting in another revised plan this week....which will be our final attempt. If we don't get approved this time, I think we will be waving the white flag. We are coming up on the 4 year anniversary of Ian wiping us out, and well, life is moving on. Still also waiting on the Army Corps of Engineers to approve an application that they have been sitting on for THREE years. Developing in this area is so much harder than it needs to be. Anyway, let's see how this round with the City goes and if we keep plugging away! The photos are conceptual drawings of one of the two additional retail buildings on property that we can't wait to find a great tenant that will utilize the drive thru we fought so hard for! It really is going to be a great development for our little island, if they would just let us get going!!
