Gatsby's Pizza

Gatsby's Pizza Gatsby's Pizza is the best thin crust pizza Around! “A Friendly Place to Meet, Eat, Laugh and Drink!” Of course, he didn't reveal the secret behind his pizza.

The History of Gatsby's

It was the year 1963 when Greg Chapin's uncle opened a family-owned pizza shop in Ohio. Chapin, who was just 12 at the time, basically grew up in the kitchen, working there after school and on weekends. "That's when we came up with the dough and sauce recipe," said Chapin, who uses the same ingredients today. As a young adult, he grew away from the family business — never

completely however — as he became an electrician. But pizza kept calling him back. So, back in 1977 Greg opened the original Gatsby’s Pizza in a 20 by 30 600 sq ft farmhouse. Who would have thought that his vision would end up being one of the largest independently owned grill and pizzeria in the area. It wasn’t a pizza shop at first. It was a sandwich shop with beer and wine. He added his family's secret pizza recipe to the menu as the restaurant grew and expanded. He ran Gatsby's in Ohio for 20-plus years. In 2000 Greg decided to retire and passed the torch on to Doug & Gina who now own and operate the grill and pizzeria in the Columbus Ohio area. After selling Gatsby's in Ohio, the Chapins retired to Naples in 2000 and Greg and his wife Jackie decided to open the first Gatsby's Pizza in Southwest Florida in 2003 in Wiggins Pass Crossing. Since Ohio, the two have opened, shut down, sold, and moved the pizzeria a few times. As major medical issues were taking their toll on Greg and remnants of same continues but through the grace of God and all the prayers he persevered. They eventually outgrew Wiggins location and moved to a larger venue in Bonita spring. Then along comes Hurricane IAN and destroys the Bonita Springs location. That and all the ongoing medical issues; Greg and Jackie had decided it wouldn’t be prudent to try to rebuild. So, after the Hurricane, they started looking for new owners that would carry on Gatsby’s Pizza tradition and special recipe. Prayers were answered when Greg and Jackie were introduced to Ohio Gatsby’s alumni who had once lived in the Columbus area who currently live in Naples. Introducing Robynn and her husband Tim. The torch has now been passed and they are now the new proud owners of Gatsby’s Pizza in Florida. The new location is 28811 S Tamiami Trail Suite #5, Bonita Springs, FL 34134. The phone number is (239) 221-3112
