In the winter of 2012 two friends embarked on a great journey of faith, friendship, and partnership into the world of business. Our humble beginnings had us serving coffee outside in the coffee cart in an 8x8 corner of the local HEB grocery store for two years. With hard work, dedication and diligence, we were invited to occupy an inside venue where we grew and grew.... Two years passed once more

and now we are opening store number two! We have built our business as humble servants of the Lord. The Lord has provided many pathways for us to walk down and opened door after door to prosper our business and our ministry. We hope our customers are at ease as they step into our shop and experience a great cup of coffee, enjoy the smell of our in-house fresh roasted organic beans, or sip on the best iced tea in town. Sit down and relax at our Boerne location or grab and go at the walk-up counter at our new San Antonio location opening soon. Either way, know that at Barker and Wortman there are no worries...

My grandfather to the right and his business party the left….Together they went into business to form “Wortman tire and batteries” They were in business just for a couple of months before it burned down…I have it hung up in my shop for it to be a reminder of my business partner and myself on how fragile life is..That things come and go fast….But no matter what praise GOD for “ALL” ….RIP grandpa…you didn’t talk much you didn’t have to…I remember trolling in your tiny boat up and down the Missouri River….and listening to Paul Harvey on the radio….Miss you…

16 years this June 2026……
Two kids who worked at Home Depot with a vision…Blockbuster video went out of business…picked up their furniture they were selling….put some caster wheels on them, and for two and half years we made our home (with HEBs blessing) in outside garden…6 days with Casey and I…in the elements….just covering our supplies day after day…with a black cloth….later HEB invited us into their store….and the rest is history…with two other stores that we tried to make happen but did not….So we got pulled back to Boerne….and is where we are at present…It’s been a ride with mountain tops and valleys…now with employees and a beautiful store structure it is a blessing to say the least….Casey and I are humble and say Thank you….thank you for coming and supporting us and talking to us…and praying together…Without you …well….who knows what we’d be doing….
